PC-ABS is a filament formed by the two most commonly used polymers in the industry: PC and ABS. This filament has been developed by Fillamentum, a manufacturer of high quality filaments for 3D FDM printing. This material is part of their range of Industrial filaments, among which 3D FDM printer users can find materials with high mechanical properties.

Fillamentum's PC-ABS filament combines the outstanding properties of both polymers (PC and ABS) to offer an end product with industrial applications. This material has a high adhesion between layers, as well as low deformation, which reduces the possible warping effect.

Fillamentum has developed this material with the aim of achieving excellent printing results. For an optimal result it is recommended to use a specific adhesive such as Magigoo PC to improve the adhesion to the base. It is recommended to read the tips for use of the material, where the recommended printing parameters and some printing tips are included.

Fillamentum's PC-ABS finish is soft to the touch and its most outstanding mechanical properties are its tear resistance, its resistance to chemicals, its excellent resistance to high temperatures or its resistance to impact. This filament can be used for the production of electrical and electronic equipment.

In addition, this filament is recyclable and does not contain toxic substances; although it is not suitable for use in contact with food.

PC-ABS Fillamentum is sensitive to moisture absorption, so it is recommended that the filament be kept in an airtight container with a desiccant bag or use a PrintDry vacuum sealed container. If you have been exposed to damp conditions, it is recommended that you use a filament dryer such as PrintDry II to dry the filament. Using the filament wet can cause degradation of the polymer, increase the brittleness of the material or affect the adhesion of layers when printing a 3D part.

PC-ABS is a very strong material that is ideal for printing parts that need to withstand impacts for long periods of time. It is a very versatile material with applications in the automotive or electronics industry among others.

To use the PC-ABS Fillamentum filament, we recommend a printing temperature of between 260 and 280 °C and a bed temperature of between 90 and 105 °C. The use of a printer with a heated chamber is recommended.

In addition to this, it is recommended to use a specific adhesive such as Magigoo PC, or to use 3D Lac to improve the adhesion to the base especially when printing large pieces, avoiding to a great extent the warping effect. It is also very useful to activate a 5 - 10 mm Brim around the piece to be printed.

As far as printing speed is concerned, it is recommended to print at a speed of between 30 and 50 mm/s. The coating fan should be turned off, as a rapid cooling of the material can produce a warping effect.
