Treed Filaments is an Italian manufacturer dedicated to the development and creation of filaments that stands out for its broad portfolio of materials focused on FDM/FFF 3D printing. In its catalogue, you can find from filaments designed for architecture and artistic creations to technical filaments.
ABS Heritage Brick is a filament for 3D printers, classified within Treed Filaments' architectural filament category. ABS Heritage Brick has the appearance and texture of a common building material such as brick.
This filament is composed of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) combined with mineral powder particles, offering the characteristic colour and texture of fired clay.
ABS Heritage Brick inherits some of the most outstanding characteristics of ABS, offering good mechanical properties, as well as being able to be processed in most of the 3D printers on the market that have a heated bed.
In the case that the user who is working with this material and does not want his pieces to have a similar appearance to a conventional brick, he can apply a post-processing. With fine sandpaper and water, a polished and shiny result can be obtained, maintaining the unique colour of the brick.
Sometimes, it is essential to use 3D printing supports to produce parts containing areas with steep angles or overhangs. Most 3D printers on the market do not have dual extruders that allow the use of a hotend manufacturing material in one hotend and a support material in the second. If the user has a filament 3D printer with a single extruder, the same material must be used to manufacture the part and the supports of the critical areas. Removing these supports can leave marks on the printed part (which can be touched up with devices such as Retouch 3D) or, in the worst case, damage the part. ABS Heritage Brick has been designed to facilitate the removal of the supports, without leaving marks, obtaining an exceptional result.
ABS Heritage Brick has been created for architecture, art, design or archaeology sectors, giving 3D printed pieces an effect and colour similar to those of classic building bricks. In addition, the rough surface finish allows the characteristic layers of FDM 3D printing to be hidden.
ABS Heritage Brick is ideal for applications where the raw material is essential, such as:
Using architectural materials such as ABS Heritage Brick from Treed Filaments minimises the risk of failure, reduces costs and execution times in sectors such as architecture and art.

In order to achieve a good result during FDM 3D printing with Heritage Brick ABS filament, it is advisable to follow the recommendations below:
ABS is a hygroscopic material (it absorbs moisture). For excellent results it is recommended to dry the filament at 70°C for at least 2 hours (for 1kg spools) in a filament dryer such as PrintDry Pro.
To prevent 3D printing filaments for FDM and FFF printers from absorbing moisture, it is recommended to store them in vacuum-sealed containers such as those from PrintDry so that the filament is free of dust particles and does not contain moisture.
