100 % biobased PHA pellets. Biodegradable in any biotope with no microplastics left behind.

Colour traceability cannot be guaranteed as the shade varies between spools depending on the natural compounds used in each production process.

PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates) is often called the ultimate bioplastic in the 3D printing industry, superior even to PLA. PHA is created by the fermentation of natural sugars and oils into fat cells by bacteria. The main benefit of PHA is that it biodegrades in any biotope completely, without leaving behing any traces of microplastics. This is a significant advantage over standard PLA which is biodegradable but only in industrial conditions. The decomposition speed will depend on the 3D printed parts' thickness and the environmental factors such as heat, moisture and microbial activity.

When 3D printed, the allPHA pellets by ColorFabb show excellent interlayer adhesion and the 3D printed parts are tough and resistant to temperatures of over 120 ºC. These allPHA pellets are the perfect material for sustainable modeling and prototyping projects where the look of the part is as important as its environmental friendliness. Parts that are no longer needed can be recycled into new filament or returned to nature where they will be fully decomposed by microorganisms, leaving no trace.

The allPHA pellets can be processed with the help of FGF manufacturing solutions such as the CEAD AM Flexbot solution, the CEAD E25 extruder, the Mahor V4 pellet extruder, the Dyze Pulsar extruder or the Tumaker printers.

The proper storage of 3D printing materials is key to smooth extrusion, and great surface quality and mechanical properties of the 3D printed part. The ColorFabb allPHA pellets should be stored in a closed package in dry conditions at temperature below 50 ºC, protected from UV-light at all times. If the pellets absorb excess moisture, they should be dried for 6-9 hours at 70 ºC (dehumidifying dryer preferred).

The recommended processing temperature for the allPHA pellets is 170-180 ºC. PHA needs to be printed on a cold bed with 100 % fan cooling, which also contributes to increasing the material's sustainability.
