To complete their consumer grade range of FDM 3D printers, Bambu Lab has created the X1E FDM 3D printer designed specially for professionals and engineering applications. With a build volume of 256 x 256 x 256 mm, an extrusion temperature of 320 ºC, a bed temperature of 110-120 ºC, and an actively heated chamber (max. 60 ºC), the X1E 3D printer is ideal for 3D printing with standard, engineering and advanced filaments. The X1E printer has an impressive range of compatible materials, including PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, BVOH, ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PET, PPS, PPA, as well as their carbon/glass fiber reinforced versions.

AMS Module included

Another valuable feature of this 3D printer is that it comes with the Bambu Lab AMS Module, a device that gives the printer the capability to 3D print with in multicolor and multimaterial mode. It is possible to simultaneously connect 4 AMS Modules to the X1E printer, which give the user the ability to 3D print with up to 16 filaments at once, for example support filaments or various colors.

Intelligent filament management with X1E and the AMS Module

The AMS Module also has the feature of automatic filament reload for more efficient printing. This intelligent filament management is a great commodity for engineering environments where time, efficiency and quality are of utmost importance.

Reliable movement and extrusion

The X1E printer's extrusion system was built to provide fast but reliable extrusion of engineering materials that require high extrusion temperatures. X1E has an all-metal hotend and a 0.4 mm hardened steel nozzle that can extrude at up to 320 ºC, ensuring great dimensional stability, elevated heat resistance and excellent mechanical performance with materials such as PPA-CF/GF, PPS or PPS-CF.

X1E offers an impressive printing speed of 500 mm/s. To provide a stable performance at such speeds, X1E was equipped with a sturdy chassis and XY structure. This is achieved through the incorporation of state-of-the-art carbon-fiber rods within the CoreXY motion system.

These superior components facilitate an impressive toolhead acceleration of 20000 mm/s² by effectively minimizing the mass of the moving elements. This heightened acceleration capability empowers the X1E to sustain its maximum travel speed of 500 mm/s for extended intervals, leading to a notable reduction in the overall printing duration.

Printing without and with active vibration compensation

Any XY-axis vibrations or extrusion issues are compensated for actively with the vibration and extrusion compensation feature. All measurements are taken automatically by the printer so that the user can enjoy precision and quality without manual adjustments or guesswork.

Failure detection with the help of AI

Furthermore, the X1E is equipped with a powerful AI algorithm that detects with the help of Lidar and computer vision (1920 x 1080 camera included) any imperfections in the first layer or the so-called spaghetti monster. When that happens, X1E automatically pauses the printing process to avoid filament waistage and machine downtime.

Clean and safe workspace

Air filters for engineering 3D printers are essential for maintaining a clean and safe workspace, preserving the quality of prints, and adhering to regulatory requirements. Bambu Lab has equipped the X1E 3D printer with a highly efficient custom multilayer air filtration system.

It is a combination of a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter, and a high quality activated carbon filter with coconut shells. This air filter provides optimal air filtration, reduces odors and guarantees a safe work environment when materials such as ABS, ASA, PA, PC or carbon fiber composites are extruded.

Professional connectivity

To satisfy the needs of professional engineering environments, the X1E 3D printer offers advanced connectivity options that enable off-cloud operation, fully functional within a local network. This feature is especially useful for universities, laboratories, design offices, etc. Users also have the option to manage the X1E printer from a distance using LAN communication, without the need for an internet connection.

Apart from off-cloud operation, X1E offers stable connectivity via an Ethernet port for trustworthy network communication in complex environments. A third connectivity option is a WiFi connection via WPA2-Enterprise authentication (EAP-PEAP/EAP-TLS/TAP-TTLS). This option includes physical kill switches for both the WiFi and the Ethernet for workspaces with strict network security requirements.

These connectivity options allow for flexibility tailored to the professional environment, with safety and confidentiality guaranteed when it's needed. The full specifications of the connectivity options can be consulted in the product's datasheet in the Downloads section.

All you need for engineering applications

The X1E 3D printer by Bambu Lab is the ultimate FDM solution for professional environments where time, quality, safety and security are of utmost importance. This is due to its multimaterial potential with the AMS Module, its compatibility with a very wide range of materials, its high printing speed, as well as its sturdy chassis, air filtering system, and numerous connectivity options for dynamic engineering environemnts. The X1E 3D printer is ideal for fast-paced additive manufacturing in demanding conditions
