Raise E2CF is an FDM 3D printer developed by Raise3D and optimised for the 3D printing of carbon fibre reinforced filaments, making it an ideal 3D printer for the manufacture of prototypes or end-use parts with this type of material.

Adapted components for carbon fibre reinforced filaments

The components that make up this FDM 3D printing equipment have been developed to achieve the best performance and durability by using carbon fibre-filled materials:

  • Dual Drive Direct Extrusion: Raise3D E2CF features a direct extrusion system with hardened steel gears, heat-treated for increased wear resistance. This extrusion system, developed specifically for this 3D printing equipment, pulls the filament firmly, guaranteeing stability during the printing process.

  • Nozzles with high durability: Raise3D E2CF nozzles are made of silicon carbide and feature excellent wear resistance and high thermal conductivity. This material effectively reduces abrasion caused by carbon fibre reinforced materials, extending the life of the nozzle.

Dual extrusion

One of the great advantages of the Raise3D E2CF is its independent dual extrusion system (IDEX) with retractable printheads, which allows both printheads to work independently or together (under one axis) to create more complex parts or increase productivity.

There are two different print modes for combining materials on the same part: copy mode, in which it duplicates the same similar object, and mirror mode, in which it creates an exact symmetrical copy. This dual extrusion system is very efficient in saving printing time.

Compatible Materials

Raise3D E2CF is optimized for use with fiber-reinforced filaments validated by Raise3D, through the profiles available in Raise3D's "Open Filament" program. However, it also supports filaments from other manufacturers.

Raise3D has developed multiple filaments optimized for the E2CF that ensure the best results, both in finishes and mechanical properties, such as Raise3D's PA12 CF filament. This technical material is reinforced with short carbon fibers and exhibits excellent rigidity, high-temperature resistance, low deformation, and low moisture absorption compared to other polyamides. Additionally, its mechanical properties and dimensional stability can be improved through an annealing process, making it an ideal alternative to metal in component manufacturing.

In addition to Nylon, Raise3D has developed other reinforced materials for the most demanding applications, such as PPA CF filament, a filament of carbon-reinforced polyphthalamide that provides high-temperature resistance and improved mechanical strength compared to nylon, at the expense of lower ductility.

All reinforced materials from Raise3D also come with their specific support material such as Raise3D PA12 CF support filament or PPA support filament. This ensures excellent adhesion and compatibility with each material, guaranteeing minimal risk of failure even in the most complex parts.

Usability and professional quality

Raise3D E2CF is a professional 3D printer designed to facilitate the entire 3D printing process. To do so, this FDM 3D printing equipment has several features that guarantee the best results and make it easy to use.

The structure of Raise3D E2CF is built with a sturdy aluminium frame, being a completely closed 3D printer. In addition, it includes a HEPA air filtration system that helps to reduce the effects of fumes and gases derived from extrusion, maintaining a safe manufacturing environment at all times.

Raise3D E2CF has a large print volume: 330 x 240 x 240 mm when printing with a single head, and 290 x 240 x 240 x 240 mm when printing with both heads at the same time. This allows the user to produce complex, high-volume parts with carbon fibre-reinforced materials.

The printing surface is removable and flexible to facilitate the extraction of the parts without the need to use a spatula or any other type of accessory that could damage the part or the printing surface.

In addition, this 3D printer is self-levelling and has an auxiliary calibration process specifically developed for the use of filled materials, which improves the levelling accuracy and, consequently, the adhesion of the material to the printing surface and the quality of the first layer.

Another differentiating feature of this 3D printing equipment is its Easy Swap printheads (easy to remove and replace printheads), which make it easy for the user to change from one printhead to another.

In addition to these features, Raise3D E2CF has a power loss recovery system that allows printing to be resumed from the same point where the failure occurred. This feature, coupled with automatic filament detection, helps to greatly reduce the rate of failed prints.

To make the printing process even easier, Raise 3D E2CF incorporates a 7" touch screen that allows the user to interact with the equipment directly and provides visual assistance. This equipment also has a camera inside to control and monitor the status of the 3D printing process from any device.

Raise 3D has its own lamination software, a program with which preparing any part is quick and easy thanks to its automatic support generator. It also allows you to customise the supports, automatically modify the layer height depending on the level of detail, and many other possibilities. The formats supported are STL, OBJ or 3MF.

In terms of connectivity, it is possible to load a design directly with a USB drive or Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi wireless connection.

The Raise Shield warranty extension allows you to have the security of a professional and agile response to any problem that may arise with the printer and any of its components (except consumables such as hotends, nozzles or other elements that involve wear and tear) during the established period.

Raise Shield can be purchased at the time of purchase of any Raise 3D printer (it will not be available for purchase at a later date). The Raise3D E2CF FDM 3D printer is equipped with a HEPA filter to remove all possible odours and harmful particles generated during the printing of certain materials.
