Famous for designing upgrade kits that drastically improve 3D printer performance, Slice Engineering has put together an extruder upgrade kit for the large format Modix 3D printers. The kits consists of premium engineering-grade components and is built around the Mosquito Magnum+ hotend and the Bondtech LGX Pro extruder.

The result of upgrading the Modix 3D printers with the Slice Engineering Modix Upgrade Kit is less downtime, less wasted filament on failed prints, less tinkering, increased throughput, and higher resolution. The Modix Upgrade Kit is available in three versions (just the left toolhead, just the right toolhead or two toolheads) and is compatible with the BIG-40 V3, BIG-60 V3, BIG-120X V3, BIG-120Z V3, BIG-180X V3 and BIG-METER V3 printers by Modix.

The star of this upgrade kit is the Mosquito Magnum+ hotend. This hotend is equipped with two heater cartridge slots for 80 W of heating power rated up to 500 ºC. The long melt zone of Mosquito Magnum+ helps achieve a maximum flow rate capacity of 90 mm³/s. Similarly to other Mosquito hotends, Mosquito Magnum+ allows for one-handed and toolless nozzle change. This hotend has been tested and approved by various prestigious entities such as NASA, SpaceX or the US Navy.

Furthermore, the Mosquito Magnum+ hotend is enhanced with the LGX ACE cold block. This makes it easier to print with flexible filaments or complicated materials thanks to the shorter path that the filament must make from the extruder gears to the hotend.

Another crucial element of the Modix Upgrade Kit is the LGX Pro extruder by Bondtech. The metal gears and robust houns of this extruder are the reason why LGX Pro excels at high printing temperatures and in enclosed environments such as that of the Modix printers.
