Extrusion system with dual drive technology using large wheels and exceptional performance.

Bondtech is a manufacturer of extrusion systems for FFF 3D printers, renowned for its extruders based on BMG technology (Bondtech Mini Gears). All Bondtech products stand out for their high modularity, as well as the availability of retrofit kits for the main printers on the market.

With the new LGX (Large Gears eXtruder) system, Bondtech takes a leap forward by offering a more compact system with superior performance to the already excellent BMG, especially in flexible filaments.

A leap in dual drive technology

The BMG system was a pioneer in the use of double traction by means of geared wheels, known as dual drive. Thanks to this new system, the traction surface on the filament was increased, achieving a more uniform extrusion and reducing the possibility of causing bites in the filament.

The new LGX system improves on the traditional design by employing larger diameter drive wheels, resulting in an even larger contact surface with the filament. This allows the new Bondtech LGX extruder to use higher traction forces without the risk of damaging the filament.

As a result, it offers exceptional performance with all types of flexible filaments, including those of lower hardness.

In addition, wheel access windows have been included to facilitate wheel cleaning and maintenance, allowing the wheels to be brushed, blown or vacuumed without the need to dismantle anything.

Compact and Modular Design

The new LGX extruder has a compact, lightweight and symmetrical design. This makes it easily adaptable to any type of printer. Its symmetrical design allows it to be used in dual set-ups on either side, without the need for two separate models.

The LGX extruder body includes a new multi-interface port for quick accessory changes. No longer is it necessary to open the extruder to replace the hotend or to fit a Bowden adapter, the new multi-face port allows changes to be made with just two screws.

It also has a high degree of adaptability thanks to the multiple anchor points distributed throughout the extruder body. This facilitates mounting on all types of perforated plates and in any orientation.

Innovative tension adjustment

The new LGX includes an innovative tension adjustment system based on a calibrated selector with 6 positions, one of which allows the filament to be loaded or released. It is no longer necessary to use a screw to adjust the extruder tension, but simply select the appropriate selector position. This ensures high repeatability and allows quick change of settings when switching between filaments.

High compatibility

The new LGX is highly versatile and allows for different setups:

LGX Bowden: Thanks to the possibility of attaching a bowden adapter to the multi-interface port, it is possible to adapt the LGX extruder to any bowden printer.

LGX Direct: The standard version of LGX is directly compatible with the entire Mosquito family of hotends, as well as with Copperhead.

LGX kit for flexibles: Thanks to an aluminium coupling with high thermal performance, it is possible to directly couple a bimetal heatbreak and a Slice Engineering block, achieving a compact head with minimum travel between the traction zone and the fusion zone. Thanks to this, it is able to offer exceptional performance with all types of flexible filaments.

Installing the new LGX extruder may require modifying the printer's firmware. In the case of the Prusa kit, the firmware can be downloaded directly from here.

In the case of requiring a greater number of anchor points, the screws of the nema motor can be replaced by others with internal thread included.
