Low warping UV resistant ASA with great chemical resistance and a matte finish.

3NTR is a leading Italian manufacturer of industrial grade 3D printers and filaments, with many years of experience in the additive manufacturing market.

One of the materials in their portfolio is the 3NTR ASA filament, available in 6 colors, all with a matte finish. It is characterized by UV stability, which makes it ideal to be used in outdoor applications since the color does not fade or "yellow”" with the passage of time. The 3NTR ASA can be printed with both breakaway and soluble support materials to create complex structures.

The acronym ASA stands for Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate, the substance that ASA is made of. Even though ASA, it has many advantages over it, such as an improved chemical resistance, UV resistance, as well as better resistance to water, prolonged heat and cold temperatures, and low warping tendencies. These properties make ASA filament easy to 3D print and a perfect choice for making resistant parts that have to perform in harsh conditions for long periods of time.

All these properties make the 3NTR ASA an appropriate material for the manufacturing of functional prototypes as well as end use parts for the automotive industry, for the production of commercial sidings, outdoor furniture as well as sports and garden equipment.

The 3NTR ASA filament was designed to be 3D printed on the 3NTR 3D printers. They incorporate a carbon fiber base additivized with glass fiber to provide a highly adherent printing surface. This means that there is no need to use adhesion improving products with this filament.

Should warping occur, it is recommended to use the "raft" or "brim" setting in the slicing software. The "raft" setting creates a first thick layer that works as a support for the actual piece and is quite easy to remove when the print is done. With this option, it is recommended to lower the infill value to lower the amount of heat stored by the piece. The "brim" setting resembles a membrane around the piece and is ideal for printing small parts or parts with a narrow base. It is recommended to never go over 5 mm in brim thickness to avoid the first layer peeling off the printing base.
