PLA filament with 25 % graphite particles. Ideal for reinforced parts with conductive properties.

The FEco family of materials by Colfeed4Print includes various photo- and electroactive materials for the 3D printing of multidirectional and customized interconnected structures with specific photo- and electrochemical activity. One of the materials in that group is the FEco Carbon filament with 25 % (volume) of graphite particles in a PLA matrix

The FEco Carbon filament has a conductivity of 13 S m-1 and can be used for the additive manufacturing of conductive 3D patterns, photoactive filters, or electrodes for energy generation and storage devices. The graphite particles have a size of 23 µm and are highly dispersed in the PLA base thanks to the colloidal approach used to prepare the feedstock.

The FEco Carbon filament is easily printable via the FFF 3D printing technology as it doesn't cause any clogging issues. Nevertheless, Colfeed4Print recommends the use of a 3D printer with a two-gears extruder for a better grip of the filament and prevention of undesirable filament breakage, as well as the use a low-grip bed to facilitate part removal.

The FEco Carbon filament is delivered in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant. Once opened, the filament should be stored properly to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air. The best way to store filaments in a tightly sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum sealed container or in an intelligent filament container. It is recommended to dry the filament before printing at 40-60°C for 2 minutes.

The manufacturer recommends printing FEco Carbon filament at 155-165 ºC on a bed heated to 50-60 ºC at a speed of 10-60 mm/s. The use of 1 or 2 skirts around the part (equal to the printing speed) will improve the adhesion of the part to the print bed. More printing tips can be found in the User Guide document in the Downloads section.

It is highly recommended to wear standard safety equipment during the printing and post-processing of parts 3D printed with the FEco Carbon filament - safety goggles, gloves, breathing equipment and protective garments, according to needs.
