Compact and light high accuracy 3D scanner with anti-shaking technology.

The CR-Scan Ferret Pro by Creality is a highly accurate 3D scanner designed to be a high quality upgrade of the Creality CR-Scan Ferret 3D scanner. The upgrades consists in introducing wireless scanning possibility for Mac, Windows and Android via WiFi6 connectivity (via Wireless Bridge), as well as compatibility with iPhone series 11 and above. The compact and light design (120 x 30 x 26 mm, 105 g) make the Ferret Pro easy to store and transport anywhere, and the wireless feature is especially useful for outdoor scanning. The advanced optics and intelligent algorithms of Ferret Pro make its performance excellent even in sunlight (<30000 lux).

Some other interesting features included in the CR-Scan Ferret Pro scanner are the anti-shake imaging technique, 24-bit full-color scanning, or the possibility to scan black/metal surfaces without the need for a scanning spray. Apart from these upgraded features for more reliable scanning results and faster data transmission, the CR-Scan Ferret Pro offers the same superb technical parameters as other 3D scanners from the Ferret family, namely:

  • High accuracy of 0.1 mm.
  • Resolution/point distance of 0.16 mm.
  • Working distance of 150-700 mm.
  • Capture range of 560 x 820 mm at 700 mm.
  • A minimum scanning size of 50 x 50 x 50 mm.
  • A scanning speed of up to 30 fps.
  • Outdoor scanning.
  • Alignment by geometries, markers and texture.
  • OBJ, STL and PLY output formats.
  • USB connectivity (3.0/2.0).

What's more, Ferret Pro counts with various interface and design changes such as the thumb-adjustable camera component, battery capacity increased by 10 % (5000 mAh), and the incorporation of a wireless bridge to enable WiFi6 connectivity. All this combined with the compact size and lightness of the Ferret Pro scanner make this device a highly versatile, advanced, reliable and efficient 3D scanner with a 2.5 h runtime.

CR-Scan Ferret Pro works on the principle of infrared binocular stereo technology. This technology utilizes infrared light to capture images through two lenses, allowing for accurate depth perception and the creation of 3D images or maps. The light source included in the Ferret Pro scanner is a Class1 NIR (near infrared) light source that emits electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths slightly longer than visible light. Another valuable feature of the Ferret Pro scanner is the anti-shake technology that guarantees impeccable results even with factors such as shaky hands or unstable scanning surfaces at play.

CR-Scan Ferret Pro supports 24-bit full-color scanning thanks to the built-in 2 MP high resolution color camera. This means that the color of the scanned part is immediately picked up and faithfully represented in the rendered model. Apart from alignment by color, CR-Scan Ferret Pro offers marker or feature alignment. For the scanning of black/metal objects it is not necessary to use scanning spray but other problematic surfaces (indented, specular, transparent or reflective), it is highly recommended to use the AESUB Transparent scanning spray.

CR-Scan Ferret Pro can work in two modes:

  1. High-quality mode: ideal for the precise scanning of small objects, with an accuracy of up to 0.1 mm and a 3D resolution of 0.16 mm. This allows CR-Scan Ferret Pro to capture even the smallest details and nuances in the scanned object and preserve excellent dimensional accuracy. This mode is ideal for reverse engineering applications or any application where precision is priority.
  2. Fast scan mode: ideal for the quick scanning of medium-size and large objects, with a single capture range of up to 560 x 820 mm. Thanks to the built-in ASIC chip, CR-Scan Ferret Pro can digitalize objects such as car doors, engines, rear bumpers, vehicles, etc., without markers.

Potential applications of the CR-Scan Ferret Pro scanner

The possible applications of the CR-Scan Ferret Pro are countless, from scanning cultural relics and art, through reverse engineering, AR/VR, and scanning the human body, to scanning for e-commerce, the automotive industry or even medical sciences. The size (min. 15 cm, max. 2 m) and color of the model or the light conditions do not pose a challenge for the CR-Scan Ferret Pro, even without the use of a scanning spray.

The CR-Scan Ferret Pro scanner is a great complement to a 3D printing workflow
