The PPA-CF from Bambu Lab is a carbon fiber reinforced nylon filament that redefines the standards of professional 3D printing. Its strength and rigidity are comparable to metal, delivering mechanical performance superior to traditional PA6-CF, enabling the production of mechanical parts, automotive components, and high-precision prototypes with exceptional durability. Its stability against moisture and resistance to extreme temperatures ensure reliable results in demanding environments and critical industrial applications.

This filament ensures exact reproductions of designs, preventing warping and maintaining the dimensional integrity of each prototype. With a significantly lower moisture absorption rate compared to other reinforced nylons, Bambu PPA-CF retains its mechanical properties even when submerged, making it ideal for manufacturing paddles, boat propellers, and surfboards.

PPA-CF offers stable performance even underwater, as it has 66% lower absorption than PA6. This makes it ideal for parts such as propellers or surfboards.

In addition, it withstands temperatures of up to 227 °C without compromising the structure of the parts, making it ideal for components that require high thermal resistance in industrial, automotive, or mechanical environments.

Bambu PPA-CF is compatible with P1S, X1C, and X1E printers, provided that a hardened steel nozzle and an enclosed chamber are used. It is not recommended for use with 0.2 mm nozzles or AMS/AMS Lite systems.

Print plate: use smooth PEI or textured. Cool Plate SuperTack is not recommended.

Nozzle: hardened steel 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm is recommended. Do not use stainless steel nozzles. Do not use 0.2 mm nozzles.

Adhesion: apply a thin layer of Bambu glue stick. Do not use liquid glue.

Filament drying

In dryer: 100–140 °C for 8–12 h. Best results are achieved with higher temperatures, without exceeding 160 °C.

On X1 bed: 110–120 °C for 10–12 h (less effective than oven).

Humidity control

Keep the filament in a sealed container with desiccant and below 20% RH.

Printing parameters

  • Nozzle temperature: 280–310 °C
  • Bed temperature: 100–120 °C with glue
  • Print speed: under 100 mm/s

Additional recommendations

For annealing parts, consult the datasheet available in the Attachments tab, and the Work After Printing Finished section in the Bambu Lab wiki.
