PLA Crystal Clear filament is a PLA filament of very high quality made in Europe for 3D printing by Fillamentum, and available in diameters of 1.75 mm or 2.85 mm, in a spool of 750 g. PLA Crystal Clear ensures reliable performance even in intricate details, offering remarkable clarity and gloss, great surface quality, and high surface hardness.

Achieving the highest transparency in thin layers, as per ASTM D1003 standards, at 2.1%, this filament produces models and prototypes with unparalleled aesthetic detail. Furthermore, its chemical resistance to oils and greases, and its superior heat resistance compared to standard PLA filaments enhance this material's durability.

The PLA Crystal Clear filaments can be printed easily on any FFF/FDM 3D printer, performing well even at high printing speeds. It doesn't release harmful gases (BPA-free and styrene-free) and it is very easy to print with it since it is not essential to have hot printing base materials. These qualities make PLA one of the most widely used 3D printing today. Furthermore, PLA is a biodegradable plastic derived from natural resources, in particular is obtained from the extracted starch from corn, sugar beet and wheat.

In addition, PLA Crystal is RoHS compliant and approved for food contact. To ensure the final product meets the requirements, it must undergo testing according to the relevant regulations. These regulations establish the testing conditions, which are based on the intended use of the printed object (e.g., temperature, contact duration, type of food).

The PLA Crystal Clear filament is a premium quality filament due to the high quality standards in which it is manufactured. It is manufactured by Fillamentum, a Czech company that stands for the great experience in the field of extrusion of plastics for automotive, chemical and packaging, highlighting the strong commitment to research and development of new products.

The PLA Crystal Clear filament is manufactured by strict control throughout the entire manufacturing process, ensuring high accuracy of diameter dimensions such as diameter tolerance ± 0.05 mm, with excellent roundness and without any chemical impurities for better filament viscosity. By setting high standards of quality, Fillamentum ensures excellent color consistency throughout the spool and across batches to always gurantee the highest quality of the 3D printed parts.

What's more, the PLA Crystal Clear filament is perfectly rolled onto the spool, which prevents printing problems caused by overlap winding of the filament. Another feature that contributes to the premium quality of this filament is the fact that it comes in a resealable bag pouch that protects it from moisture and UV rays. Therefore, PLA Crystal Clear filament is a high quality 3D printing filament fully stabilized for excellent finishes with the highest reliability and ease of 3D printing.

Parts printed with Fillamentum PLA Crystal Clear filament can be efficiently annealed to enhance their properties. Annealing allows for increased chemical, mechanical, and temperature resistance, with the potential to withstand temperatures of up to 110 ºC. The recommended annealing conditions include heating the printed parts to 80 ºC for 2 hours or 100 ºC for 1 hour. This process ensures the optimization of the filament's characteristics, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring enhanced durability and resilience in challenging environments, such as applications in electrical and electronic equipment.

3D printing with PLA is simpler and easier than with ABS. It is not necessary that the printer dock is hot, but if possible it is recommended that the base is at about 40-50 °C, to prevent any small sign of "warping" appears. The extruder temperature must be between 190 and 210 °C depending on the color and the 3D printer used. In our blog article 3D printing is explained about the main concerns of 3D printing PLA and ABS.

If your printer has a fan nozzle it is recommended that you activate it for best results. If you need to print very thin and tall pieces, you will see that the PLA plastic doesn´t give you enough time to harden each layer, so that the piece will be as if it had melted. To solve this problem we give a very simple advice, it prints at the same time at least two pieces, and place them separate at the base. Thus while the extruder is moved from one piece to another, the plastic has time to harden each layer in achieving a better result.
The adhesion of the first layer is key and probably the most important factors for good impressions. so you can use Blue Tape, BuildTak, Magigoo or 3DLac.

It is also advisable to set the "raft", which is to create a first thick layer, such as media, who will not suffer that contraction and on which to print the piece. The disadvantage of using the "raft" is that this first layer will have a less smooth.
It is advisable to lower the density of "infill" parameter for the part to store less heat. As for the "brim" (the membrane that is created around the piece) parameter is recommended to set it to never greater thicknesses of 5mm to help the first layer will not peel.

As for the interior temperature where printed it is recommended to be controlled and no drafts.
