NonOilen is a revolutionary material with a low environmental impact, developed by Fillamentum in collaboration with the Slovak Technical University. Originally released by Fillamentum in filament format, NonOilen is also available in pellet format for BAAM (Big Area Additive Manufacturing) and MAAM (Middle Area Additive Manufacturing) with the help of FGF manufacturing solutions such as the CEAD AM Flexbot, the CEAD E25 extruder, the Mahor V4 pellet extruder, or the Dyze Pulsar extruder.
NonOilen is a 100% bio-based material, developed from polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and other components. Thanks to the PHB, the NonOilen pellets have improved tougness and a temperature resistance of up to 115 ºC, as well as boosted biodegradability. Parts 3D printed with these pellets also stand out due to their natural silky surface finish. What's more, NonOilen has mechanical properties similar to PE, PP, PA and other polymers suitable for prototyping and manufacturing of end products for the industrial sector.
Due to its composition, NonOilen is fully biodegradable in industrial conditions. Industrial composting plants are usually more controlled than natural environments, and have the ideal pressure and temperature conditions for these materials to degrade in the shortest possible time.
What's more, NonOilen can be recycled many times with little loss of properties, it is suitable for contact with food, and also dishwasher safe. These properties are very different from other biodegradable materials on the market, and allow parts made with NonOilen to be reused in accordance with the philosophy of circular economy.

The proper storage of 3D printing materials is key to smooth extrusion, and great surface quality and mechanical properties of the 3D printed part. The NonOilen pellets should be stored in a closed package in dry conditions at temperature below 50 ºC, protected from UV-light at all times. If the pellets absorb excess moisture, they should be dried for 2 hours at 70 ºC. The recommended processing temperature for the NonOilen pellets is 175 - 195 ºC.
