Proto-Pasta is a renowned manufacturer of high quality 3D printing filaments specialising in PLA or ABS based materials. Multicolour HTPLA filament is a high quality enhanced PLA filament with colour transitions available in various shades.

Proto-pasta's multicolour HTPLA filament spools can be easily printed on any FFF/FDM 3D printer. PLA is one of the most widely used materials in 3D printing today because it does not give off harmful gases and it is very easy to print with it, as it is not essential to have a heated bed.

PLA (lactic polyacid) is a biodegradable plastic obtained from natural resources. Specifically, it is obtained from starch extracted from corn, sugar beet and wheat.

Thanks to its special formulation, this material prints like standard PLA, while maintaining its printability. In addition, parts printed with this material can be heat-treated, improving their mechanical properties and achieving a much higher thermal resistance than standard PLA, ABS or PET.

However, the most striking feature of the multicoloured HTPLA filament is its colour transition. Multicoloured HTPLA filaments have different gradients between colours. This mix varies according to the colour chosen and, by its nature, can vary slightly from one spool to another.

Colour gradient 3D printing produces parts with beautiful visual effects, giving each part a unique and special finish. This feature is very useful when 3D printing decorative parts.

Because of all its properties and its special finish, this filament allows to obtain eye-catching parts with good mechanical properties with great reliability and ease of printing.

HTPLA is a specially formulated material developed by Proto-Pasta.

The heat treatment allows the material to achieve maximum performance in only 5 - 10 minutes for small parts, and in a few hours for large parts.

To carry out the heat treatment, the parts must be baked at 110 ± 10 ºC. The process can be carried out at lower temperatures, with less risk of deformation, although this will mean an increase in the treatment time.

Depending on the geometry of the part and the parameters used, the parts may be deformed during heat treatment. It is recommended to keep supports on parts with complex geometries for best results, and to let the parts cool inside the furnace to minimise distortion.

It should be noted that the result of the heat treatment depends on several factors, so it is necessary to experiment until an optimal result is achieved.

This filament contains small particles that make the material shiny. Although they are not abrasive particles, it is recommended to use a nozzle with an output diameter of more than 0.5 mm to avoid clogging and printing problems.
