The CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15 filament represents the pinnacle of high-performance technical 3D printing filaments for industrial applications. Developed by 3DXTECH, this material combines PEKK-A (60/40 copolymer from the PAEK family) with 15% high-modulus carbon fiber, achieving an exceptional balance of mechanical strength, thermal stability, and printability. It serves as an advanced alternative to carbon fiber PEEK, optimized for engineering FDM/FFF processes where structural reliability and extreme strength are critical.

CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15: Maximum Mechanical and Thermal Strength

CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15 offers superior properties within the PAEK family. With a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 160°C, a HDT of 150°C, and a melting temperature (Tm) of 305°C, this material is designed for high-temperature applications, continuous mechanical loads, and aggressive chemical environments.

Thanks to its advanced formulation, it features a wide processing window between 360°C and 390°C, with the capability to reach up to 430°C when required by the application. This thermal range ensures printing stability and enhances repeatability in industrial environments. Compared to CF PEEK, CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15 is more accessible, reducing printing issues and improving the dimensional accuracy of final parts.

The addition of 15% high-modulus carbon fiber significantly increases stiffness, dimensional stability, and resistance to thermal deformation, making it an ideal material for tooling, aerospace components, high-performance automotive parts, technical molds, and structural parts under continuous stress.

Chemical Resistance, Low Emissions, and Certified Flame Retardancy

CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15 has inherent flame resistance with a UL94 V-0 rating, a key feature for industries where fire safety is critical. Its formulation also provides low smoke generation and minimal outgassing, essential for electronics, railway, aerospace, and confined-space applications.

The combination of advanced chemical resistance, thermal stability, and certified flame retardancy positions CarbonX PEKK-A+CF15 as a premium solution for high-value industrial additive manufacturing.

The material must be printed with an extruder temperature between 365 °C and 390 °C and a heated bed between 140 °C and 160 °C, adjustable to 120–140 °C if the printer cannot reach the upper range. A hardened steel nozzle with a minimum diameter of 0.4 mm is required, avoiding soft metal nozzles. The layer height should be 0.10 mm or higher, with practical values of 0.25 mm or more. The filament must be dried at 65 °C for 4 hours, or between 120–140 °C depending on availability. Maintaining a heated chamber up to 140 °C is recommended to improve adhesion and reduce warping. The bed must be level and clean, and nozzle movements should be optimized to minimize stringing and printing defects.
