Filament2print launches its new Basics line, designed to deliver professional-quality filaments with maximum reliability and ease of use. Within this range, PLA Matte Basic HS stands out as the perfect entry-level material: simple, versatile, and compatible with virtually any FDM/FFF 3D printer on the market.

Its ease of printing and excellent surface finish make it ideal for makers of all skill levels.

The most versatile material for 3D printing

PLA (polylactic acid) is one of the most popular materials in 3D printing thanks to its ease of use, excellent surface quality, and low tendency to warp. It is also one of the most sustainable 3D printing materials, as it comes from renewable sources (plant starches) and is biodegradable.

Its low thermal shrinkage makes it perfect for printing on open-frame printers as well as for large-format models, while its broad compatibility with virtually all FDM/FFF printers on the market makes it an ideal filament for both beginners and advanced users.

Its most common applications include decorative models, functional prototypes, aesthetic parts, architectural models, and everyday-use items.

Professional finish, outstanding performance

The PLA Matte Basic HS range from Filament2Print has been developed to deliver not only reliable and consistent printing performance, but also a carefully curated color palette aimed at professional projects. Each color in this line has been selected and referenced to specific RAL tones, making it easier to achieve visual consistency, color repeatability, and seamless integration into design, prototyping, and production environments.

The matte finish prevents unwanted reflections on the printed surface, enhancing visual appeal and improving detail perception. Thanks to this, PLA Matte Basic is the ideal material for producing visual models and prototypes, design presentations, mock-ups, or any part where final appearance is just as important as dimensional accuracy.

This color guide presents the available shades of PLA Matte Basic HS along with their RAL codes and approximate hexadecimal values, allowing for clear and accurate color identification before printing. The matte finish, in addition to providing an elegant and uniform look, reduces reflections and enhances detail, making this material the ideal choice for visual models, product presentations, and parts where aesthetics are as important as precision.

Print with confidence and precision

PLA Matte Basic stands out for its excellent spool winding quality and consistent diameter, two key factors that directly impact print reliability and final part quality.

Uniform, controlled winding ensures smooth filament unwinding, preventing snags or overlaps that could interrupt printing. This enables trouble-free operation even during long prints or with automated feeding systems such as Bambu Lab AMS.

In addition, a consistent diameter, with minimal tolerances of just 0.05 mm across the entire spool, ensures precise and stable extrusion. Thanks to this dimensional control, material flow remains uniform layer after layer, reducing visible surface variations, eliminating under- or over-extrusion issues, and improving layer adhesion and detail definition.

The result: parts with an impeccable finish, precise geometries, and a more predictable, professional printing experience.

Ready for high-speed printing

PLA Matte Basic by Filament2Print has been formulated to get the most out of next-generation 3D printers, capable of operating at much higher flow rates and accelerations than conventional machines.

Thanks to its excellent flow properties and thermal stability, this material supports a maximum volumetric flow of up to 22 mm³/s (up to 300 mm/s with 0.4 mm nozzles), allowing for high-speed printing without compromising quality or surface finish.

This capability makes PLA Matte Basic a material perfectly suited for high-speed printing, enabling dramatically reduced production times without the need for complex parameter adjustments or sacrificing precision.

In addition, its optimized and controlled composition ensures a fast and uniform thermal transition, guaranteeing smooth extrusion even during intense acceleration and deceleration movements—essential characteristics for printers with CoreXY motion systems or high-response direct drive setups.

PLA Matte Basic is fully compatible with all high-speed printers on the market. In all of them, it delivers predictable behavior, well-bonded layers, and a uniform surface finish even on large parts or complex geometries.

Total compatibility

PLA Matte Basic is designed to integrate seamlessly into virtually any FDM/FFF 3D printing ecosystem.

Each spool uses a high-quality plastic reel, specially developed to provide maximum compatibility and durability. It is also suitable for most multimaterial systems on the market, ensuring a reliable, surprise-free experience in advanced setups.

Unlike cardboard spools, plastic reels offer numerous technical and practical advantages:

  • Greater structural strength, preventing deformation or breakage even in high-humidity environments.
  • Lower friction and smoother rotation, improving filament feeding and reducing extruder strain.
  • Full compatibility with multimaterial systems, where precise spool dimensions are critical.
  • Reusable and stable, ideal for long-term use, internal recycling, or storage under variable conditions.

In addition, its standard geometry and precise tolerances make it ideal for universal spool holders, enclosed spool systems, or automated rewinders, ensuring clean, tension-free unwinding.

Thanks to these features, PLA Matte Basic is a true plug & play material, designed for productivity, reliability, and total compatibility. It performs equally well on home printers, professional machines, or print farms, delivering a stable, hassle-free experience from the first layer to the end of the spool.

In addition, Filament2Print provides users with optimized print profiles available for download, compatible with Bambu Lab printers and the Raise Pro3 HS Series. These profiles have been developed to extract maximum performance from the material and are fully compatible with all multimaterial systems, enabling quick setup and consistent results from the very first print.
