The Flexfill PEBA 90A filament belongs to the flexible filament family of the manufacturer Fillamentum, known for the high quality of its filaments, the colouring it offers and its perfect winding, free of overlaps.

Unlike the other filaments in the Flexfill range, the composition of Flexfill PEBA 90A is based on Amide Block Polyether (PEBA).

PEBA is a flexible polyamide without plasticisers. This polyamide content ensures excellent mechanical properties such as wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, high fatigue resistance, exceptional flexibility and a very high chemical resistance, especially towards oils and fuels, non-polar hydrocarbons, ozone and certain acids (it is recommended to test the resistance with a piece of filament or object printed with this material).

Another property that sets Flexfill PEBA 90A apart from other flexible filaments is its low density, the lowest in the entire Flexfill range; and its resistance to low temperatures. The impact resistance and flexibility of this material is maintained down to -60ºC.

The Flexfill PEBA 90A filament has excellent optical properties, brightness and translucency. Parts printed with this material have a smooth and pleasant surface.

One of the applications of this material is in the manufacture of shoe soles. This application is made possible by the high energy return, the abrasion resistance and the low density of the Flexfill PEBA 90A. Its high resistance to dynamic stress due to cyclic movements and its low creep make it also very useful in the manufacture of objects that transfer vibration.

Flexfill PEBA 90A can also be used for the production of electrical and electronic equipment, as it acts as an insulator. Furthermore, it does not contain any restricted substances. However, this material is not recommended for use in food contact (although safe) or medical applications.

To use the Flexfill PEBA 90A filament it is recommended to use a printing temperature of between 225 and 245 ºC, and a bed temperature of between 70 and 90 ºC. Ideally, a 3D FDM printer with a heated chamber should be used, although this is not essential. It is recommended to use a mirror, glass or PEI base for printing, although the latter may be more difficult.

In addition to this, it is recommended to use an adhesive such as Magigoo PA, which will help improve adhesion to the base especially when printing large pieces, avoiding the warping effect. It is also very useful to activate a 5 mm brim around the piece to be printed.

As for the printing speed, it is recommended to start at 20 - 30 mm/s and increase the speed according to the results obtained and the experience with the material. The layer fan should be turned off, especially during the printing of the first layers, to avoid the warping effect.

It is recommended to keep the filament in an airtight container with desiccant sachets or to use a vacuum sealed PrintDry container. If exposed to damp conditions, it is recommended that the filament is dried in the PrintDry II filament dryer at 70°C for 3 hours. Using the filament wet can cause degradation of the polymer, increase the brittleness of the material or affect the adhesion of layers when printing a 3D part.
