Calibration and first layers: enable and check the automatic calibration system before printing long series. A proper first layer directly improves adhesion and dimensional accuracy; if the first layer is not perfect, stop and rerun the calibration instead of adjusting parameters randomly.

Speed vs. quality: although the U1 is designed for high-speed printing, for parts with fine detail it is advisable to limit speed and acceleration and use layer heights between 0.08–0.2 mm depending on the desired finish. Fine-tuning the print profile is key to avoiding stringing and loss of detail at high speeds.

Material and temperature management: the U1 supports nozzles up to ≈300 °C and a heated bed up to ≈100 °C, allowing a wide range of filaments (PLA, PETG, TPU, and others). However, when using hygroscopic materials (PA, TPU), it is advisable to dry and store the filament properly.

Toolhead system handling: take advantage of the interchangeable head design to reduce purge waste and facilitate color/material combinations; always check the correct insertion and connection of the cable and coupling before starting a multi-tool print. Keep connectors clean and follow the manufacturer’s recommended swapping procedure to avoid mechanical failures.

Print surface and part removal: use the provided textured PEI sheet and flexible plate to ease part removal: allow the bed to cool before detaching parts, and if adhesion is excessive, gently flex the plate or use a thin spatula along the edges. This preserves the surface and reduces the risk of part damage.

Preventive maintenance: schedule regular nozzle cleaning, end-of-filament sensor checks, and belt/bearing tension inspections. For printers operating at high speeds and accelerations, frequent maintenance prevents dimensional drift and failures in long runs.

  • Before printing series: perform an adhesion test and a calibration cube with the target setup.
  • If stringing occurs: increase retraction and lower extrusion temperature in 5 °C steps until balanced.
  • For multicolor prints: plan the toolhead change sequence to minimize purges and optimize print time.
