MAGIGOO® Supergrip represents a significant advancement in 3D printing adhesion technology, meticulously engineered by MAGIGOO® to deliver exceptionally strong and reliable bonding, especially designed for flexible and polymeric build surfaces. Aware of the unique challenges associated with printing on these materials, this innovative adhesive solution has been formulated to ensure optimal adhesion with a wide range of popular 3D printing filaments.

Magigoo Supergrip

Its broad compatibility includes commonly used materials such as PLA (polylactic acid), known for its printability and versatility; ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate), valued for its UV resistance and mechanical properties; PET-G (polyethylene terephthalate modified with glycol), appreciated for its strength and clarity; TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), a flexible and elastic material; and HIPS (high impact polystyrene), commonly used as a dissolvable support material. This compatibility makes MAGIGOO® Supergrip an indispensable tool for a wide variety of 3D printing applications, ensuring consistent and reliable performance in projects of varying complexity and material requirements.

MAGIGOO® Supergrip joins the broad range of products in the Magigoo family, such as Magigoo Original for most filaments, for polypropylene Magigoo PP or Magigoo PPGF when reinforced with glass fiber, Magigoo PC for polycarbonate, Magigoo PA for nylons (polyamide), Magigoo HT for high-temperature applications, Magigoo Flex for flexible filaments or Magigoo Pro Metal, formulated for use with metal filaments such as BASF Ultrafuse 316L.

The core mechanism behind the effectiveness of MAGIGOO® Supergrip lies in its sophisticated thermal response, a key feature that sets it apart from conventional adhesives. During the active printing phase, when the 3D printer's build plate is heated to the temperature recommended for the specific filament in use, the chemical composition of MAGIGOO® Supergrip transforms. This thermal activation triggers the formation of a strong and tenacious bond between the first printed layer and the build surface.

This powerful adhesion is crucial for preventing common yet frustrating issues like warping—where corners and edges lift from the build surface due to internal stresses during cooling—and general detachment, which can lead to print failure. By firmly anchoring the initial layers, MAGIGOO® Supergrip ensures dimensional accuracy throughout the printing process, resulting in high-quality final parts that precisely match the original design specifications.

However, the brilliance of MAGIGOO® Supergrip extends beyond providing strong adhesion during printing. Once the print job is complete and the build surface begins its natural cooling cycle, the adhesive properties of MAGIGOO® Supergrip undergo a controlled and carefully engineered transition. As the bed temperature gradually decreases, the adhesive strength is precisely reduced. This smart thermal response allows the printed object to detach from the build surface surprisingly easily and with minimal effort.

This intuitive mechanism eliminates the often awkward and potentially damaging need to remove prints using spatulas, scrapers, or other abrasive tools. By enabling a clean and hassle-free release, MAGIGOO® Supergrip significantly minimizes the risk of scratching, marking, or otherwise damaging both the printed parts—especially those with complex geometries or fine details—and the delicate surface of the build plate. Once the bed has sufficiently cooled, typically to ambient or slightly elevated temperature, the prints "self-release", leaving a clean surface ready for the next operation.

The development and refinement of MAGIGOO® products is the result of intensive research and development efforts, aimed at addressing the various challenges of 3D printing with a wide range of plastic materials. Although MAGIGOO® Supergrip has been specifically formulated to perform exceptionally well with many commonly used 3D printing plastics, it is important to note that there may be subtle yet significant variations in the chemical composition and manufacturing processes of different materials—even within the same filament type produced by different brands.

These small differences can influence the ideal application parameters needed to achieve optimal adhesion and successful results. For this reason, the temperature ranges recommended by filament manufacturers are essential guidelines for establishing the right printing conditions. To maximize the chances of success and get the best performance from MAGIGOO® Supergrip, it is always recommended to consult the thermal specifications of the filament manufacturer being used.

The application of MAGIGOO® Supergrip has been carefully designed to be a simple and user-focused process, prioritizing convenience and ease of use for 3D printing enthusiasts of all experience levels. Before each print session, it is essential to shake the MAGIGOO® pen or bottle well. This simple step is crucial to ensure the adhesive solution is well mixed, guaranteeing an even application and consistent performance across the entire build surface.

For the pen format, the adhesive flow is activated by gently pressing the applicator tip onto the clean surface of the print bed. This action primes the applicator and allows for controlled dispensing of the adhesive. Once the adhesive flows consistently, the next step is to spread it evenly over the entire area where the part will be printed. The goal is to create a thin, uniform layer that completely covers the footprint of the model. It is critical to ensure that no areas are left uncovered within the intended print area, as inconsistent coverage may lead to adhesion issues such as warping or lifting during printing.

To preserve the longevity and consistent performance of the MAGIGOO® applicator, it is vital to keep the tip clean and free of dust, dried adhesive residues, or other contaminants that might block the product's flow.

Once the 3D printing process is complete and the printed object has naturally detached from the cooled bed, cleaning the build surface is designed to be an extremely simple and hassle-free task. In most cases, it is sufficient to wipe the cooled bed with a clean, soft cloth slightly dampened with water to effectively remove any remaining MAGIGOO® Supergrip adhesive. This quick cleaning step prepares the build surface for the next print, minimizing downtime and ensuring a clean base for future prints.

The original Magigoo formulation stands out for its remarkable versatility, offering reliable adhesion on a wide variety of surfaces commonly used in 3D printing. This compatibility includes popular options such as glass beds, PEI (polyetherimide) sheets, BuildTak surfaces, powder-coated flexible magnetic plates, and even Kapton tape, among others. Thanks to this extensive compatibility, Magigoo Original is positioned as a reliable and versatile adhesive solution for users with diverse 3D printing setups.

To preserve the long-term quality and extend the shelf life of MAGIGOO® Supergrip, it is essential to adopt proper storage practices. It is strongly recommended to store the MAGIGOO® pen or bottle in an upright position with the cap tightly closed. This simple precaution prevents the adhesive from drying out prematurely or leaking accidentally. Furthermore, it should be stored in an environment away from direct sunlight and drastic temperature changes, as these conditions can degrade the adhesive’s properties over time.

You can also apply it with the Magigoo Glide Kit, which is also available as a complete package with the Magigoo Starter Pack.

The compact and ergonomic design of MAGIGOO® also enhances its portability, making it a practical and easy-to-carry accessory for off-site printing projects such as workshops, conferences, or other specialized events.
