3D printing with pellets offers a more affordable, flexible, and sustainable option compared to traditional filaments, opening new possibilities for high-performance additive manufacturing. Mahor, a manufacturer known for its innovation in pellet extrusion, presents two high-quality extruder models: the V5-M8 Standard and the V5-M8 Professional.

These extruders have been designed to meet different needs and performance levels. They are also suitable for printing with a wide range of pellets, including PLA, ABS, PET, PETG, PP, or tougher materials such as nylon and polycarbonate, as well as advanced or composite materials.

Both V5-M8 versions have a compact size (175 mm x 42 mm x 42 mm) and are equipped with a Nema 17 stepper motor. Both models feature a modular platform that allows for the customization of the hotend and motor configuration. Additionally, they incorporate the Ceramic Heating Core (CHC) system, another major advancement of this design.

The CHC is a ceramic heating ring that provides 360° enveloping heat and achieves a uniform temperature distribution, optimizing material fusion. It also includes a silicone sock to improve thermal stability and prevent heat loss, resulting in more consistent and efficient prints.

Although both are reliable and robust products, the choice between the two depends on the intended use and the user's specific needs. Ceramic Heating Core CHC, the new ceramic heating ring that provides 360º heat, along with the silicone sock.

V5-M8 Standard Features

The Mahor Standard Pellet Extruder offers an ideal combination of lightweight, power, and compatibility with a wide range of materials. This version of the V5-M8 is equipped with a brass barrel and a Nema 17 motor with a 5:1 reducer, providing a perfect balance between performance and functionality. However, there is also the option to install a Nema 14 Orbiter V2.0 type, resulting in an ultra-light extruder weighing less than 300 grams.

The optional Nema 14 allows for easy integration with various LFAM printers, as it has a smaller size and weight. This makes the V5-M8 much lighter, a feature ideal for reducing inertia and improving printing speed for each project.

Another notable aspect is the improvement in the extruder's core, which now features a new compression screw made from hardened steel, with an integrated 8 mm diameter coupling that ensures greater durability and wear resistance.

V5-M8 Professional Features

The high-performance V5-M8 Professional extruder is designed for more complex applications. This model offers greater precision, durability, and compatibility with advanced materials, providing an efficient and versatile solution for additive manufacturing.

This version incorporates a hardened steel barrel that ensures extreme wear resistance and greater thermal stability. Its structure is designed to work with high-performance pellets, supporting more demanding printing conditions. It also includes a Nema 17 motor with a 10:1 reducer, providing higher torque and extrusion control, allowing for precision even in industrial applications.

As in the standard model, this extruder features a compression screw made from hardened steel with an integrated 8 mm diameter coupling, ensuring efficient force transmission, minimal wear, and a longer accessory lifespan. Additionally, the professional barrel offers the option to add a heat sink, allowing for better temperature control depending on the material used.

With a design optimized for industrial performance, this extruder is ideal for those seeking precision, speed, and reliability in 3D printing with pellets.

Choosing the Right Extruder

While both versions are reliable, durable, and share a modular platform and the Ceramic Heating Core (CHC) heating system, the choice between the two will depend on the intended use and how much experimentation is desired with different types of pellets.

On one hand, the V5-M8 Standard is an efficient and affordable option for printing with conventional pellets and is a good choice for both beginners and semi-professionals.

On the other hand, the Mahor V5-M8 Professional is the best choice for those needing a more robust extruder, with greater durability and precision for technical materials or those requiring more specialized equipment and accessories.
