Typhoon™ Dyze Extruder

Dyze is a company dedicated to the development and manufacture of components for 3D printers. Dyze produces hotends, sensors, nozzles and all kinds of accessories, although it specialises in the design of extrusion systems.

Among the extrusion systems developed by this manufacturer are its high-flow extruders, including Pulsar™ and Tiphoon™.

Tiphoon™ is a high-flow filament extruder aimed at large-scale industrial FDM 3D printing.

High flow extruder

The Tiphoon™ extruder is designed to process 2.85 mm diameter filament, and is considered a high flow extruder.

A high flow extrusion system refers to the amount of material the extruder can process in a given period of time. In this case, Tiphoon™ can process up to 200 mm3/s, or 0.9 kg of material in one hour.

The Tiphoon™ extruder features a NEMA23 motor with high quality gears that allows it to handle a high material flow.

Thanks to these features, Tiphoon™ is an ideal high-performance solution for industrial equipment for large-scale 3D printing.

Compatible with advanced materials

Tiphoon™ is an ultra-rugged extruder thanks to its all-metal chassis, made of an aluminium alloy designed to withstand high stresses in extreme conditions. Tiphoon™ also withstands high temperatures thanks to the following features:

  • Water cooling circuit: Ensures that the entire system maintains a constant temperature.
  • Additional heat shield: Thanks to this, Tiphoon™ can work in environments up to 100°C.

In addition, Tiphoon™ has two high-precision PT100 sensors capable of accurate temperature measurements from 0°C to 500°C and maintaining a constant temperature, enabling the processing of advanced materials from the PAEK family, such as PEKK, PEEK, PEI Ultem or PSU.

The Tiphoon™ extruder is compatible with technical and fibre-reinforced materials. For this reason, it has a steel nozzle that is highly resistant to abrasion. This component prevents variations in the nozzle diameter caused by fibre abrasion, which is common in long-term printing with this type of material.

High-performance system

This high-flow filament extruder with a 4.6:1 ratio features a four-gear system, with four points of contact with the filament. This provides optimum grip and traction on the material, preventing any slippage and allowing even the most flexible and elastic filaments to be processed.

On the other hand, the Tiphoon™ filament extruder has a double heating zone which ensures that the polymer is at a constant temperature.

  1. The upper zone receives the filament and melts it.
  2. The lower zone is then at a suitable temperature to ensure a uniform output flow.

Despite being geared towards industrial use, Tiphoon™ is designed for ease of use. As such, it features an optimised filament change system with a lever that moves all pulling mechanisms away from the material, allowing for quick and easy removal and insertion of filament.
