The 3955 HDT280 FST resin from the Loctite family of flame retardant photopolymers is a high performance halogen-free flame retardant resin (UL94-V0) with excellent flexural and tensile physical properties, as well as a great surface finish. This resin has successfully passed the vertical burn tests and is fully compatible with aerospace FST standards (AirBus AITM2-0002, AITM2-0007, AITM3-0005). Parts 3D printed with this material exhibit no deformation in thermically harsh environments.

The 3955 HDT280 FST resin is the perfect material for the additive manufacturing of connector and interior parts for the aerospace and rail industries, for example HVAC components, clips and plugs for control systems, electronic housings, etc.

To ensure the optimal performance of Loctite 3955 HDT280 FST resin, it is essential to follow a validated workflow. Below are the main stages of the process:

1. Pre-melt (preheating)
  • The resin requires preheating before being used.
  • It is recommended to heat the original 1 kg container to 80 °C for 4 hours, or until the material is fully liquefied.
  • Before pouring the resin into the printer tray, shake the container to homogenize the contents.
  • Once melted, the resin must be kept at 60 °C to maintain fluidity and should be used within a maximum of 2 weeks.
2. Printing settings
  • Optimized for industrial DLP printers.
  • The resin must be printed at a temperature of at least 55 °C.
  • Recommended parameters for an intensity of 5 mW/cm²:
    • Layer thickness: 50 – 100 µm
    • Base cure time: 20 – 25 s
    • Layer cure time: 2.3 – 5 s
3. Cleaning
  • After printing, remove the support structures.
  • Wash the part in LOCTITE 3D Cleaner T at 60 °C, using ultrasonic or manual cleaning, for 30 seconds (1 or 2 repetitions).
  • Dry with compressed air (30 psi) for 10 – 60 seconds.
  • Optional: perform a quick rinse in acetone (10 s, do not soak excessively) to remove Cleaner T residues.
  • Wait 60 minutes at room temperature before post-curing.
4. Post-curing

Final post-curing is essential to achieve the certified mechanical and thermal properties. The specific parameters depend on the equipment used; it is recommended to consult the technical documentation and Loctite validated settings.
