The Nexa 3D catalog of flexible 3D printing resins contains the industrial grade xFLEX475 resin powered by Loctite and developed together with Henkel. xFLEX475 is a high rebound material with Shore hardness of around 60A, an impressive 150 % elongation at break, an excellent energy return of up to 50 %, and resistance to most solvents.

xFLEX475 is a single component low-viscosity resin that is easy to print and cures to a soft rubber-like elastomeric material. When 3D printed on the Nexa 3D printers, the xFLEX475 resin guarantees extreme accuracy and quality at an exceptionally fast printing speed thanks to the Nexa 3D patented ultrafast LSPc technology.

The 3D printed parts are characterized by resilience and are highly suitable for applications where resilience, snap back, and tear resistance are desired, such as lattice structures and functional prototyping, pipes and manifolds, handles, grips seals, gaskets, sportswear and footwear midsoles.

Parts 3D printed with the Nexa 3D xFLEX475 resin will achieve their specific properties only after being subjected to post-processing by washing and curing. If applicable, the support structures must be removed from the part before curing and the part must be washed. The xFLEX475 resin is a plant-based material which allows for washing the 3D printed parts in water, combined with soft brushing. This means that no IPA alcohol or other substances are needed for the washing of this material but the Nexa 3D xClean can be used.

Once washed, the parts 3D printed with the xFLEX475 resin must be dried and then cured either with the help of an LED or wide spectrum lamp, or in the Nexa 3D Wash+Cure station developed especially for the washing and curing of parts 3D printed on the XiP 3D printer. The recommended washing, drying and curing times can be consulted on the manufacturer's website for each Nexa 3D resin. The manufacturer recommends coating the parts with a spray-on mold release agent such as LOCTITE Frekote 770-NC or Smooth-On Universal Mold Release prior to post curing as this will reducce the surface tack of the final part. After curing, the mold release can be rinsed off with water or IPA alcohol.

Due to the flexible nature of the XFLEX475 resin the printed parts may sway during tray release, Z-axis movement and when the build platform re-enters the vat. This is why it is crucial to consider part orientation and support design carefully, for example by keeping the height-width ratio of the part at 1:1 and use larger supports and contacts. To remove supports it is recommended to use a scalpel or an ultrasonic knife instead of any abrasive methods.

Certain precautions must be taken when working with 3D printing resins. The user must ensure that the working space is adequately ventilated, and that protective goggles, gloves and garments are worn at all times. The xFLEX475 resin should be stored in a tightly closed container/resin vat to avoid resin deterioration due to UV exposure. The container/vat should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame.
