The ASA 275 FlameGuard is a high-performance, flame-retardant filament designed by Spectrum for advanced 3D printing applications requiring exceptional fire safety. It meets the stringent UL 94 V0 standard, meaning that printed parts self-extinguish within 10 seconds when exposed to a vertical flame, without spreading the fire. This makes it ideal for critical applications where fire resistance is essential.

Video 1: About the Spectrum filaments: Source: Spectrum.

The filament features a specialized formulation that enhances mechanical properties such as flexibility, flow stability, and layer adhesion while minimizing shrinkage. Its UV and thermal resistance ensure long-lasting performance even in demanding outdoor conditions. Despite its technical capabilities, ASA 275 FlameGuard is remarkably easy to print, comparable to PLA, enabling the production of large, precise models with minimal risk of warping after cooling.

Spectrum ASA 275 FlameGuard is perfect for creating durable prototypes, functional manufacturing tools, and components requiring fire protection. It works seamlessly with desktop FDM 3D printers, even those without heated chambers, although using one is recommended for larger prints. This makes it a versatile solution for industries where safety and durability are paramount.

Once opened, the Spectrum filaments must be stored properly to prevent moisture absorption from the air. Filament is best stored in a hermetically sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum-sealed container or in a smart filament container. If the filament absorbs too much moisture, it should be dried in a filament dryer in accordance with the settings recommended for the material in question.

In order to avoid extrusion problems and obtain high quality parts with the Spectrum filaments, it is highly recommended to use the printing parameters (extrusion temperature, bed temperature, printing speed, fan settings) provided in each material's respective technical datasheet. It is also crucial to follow any other recommendations such as the use of an abrasion-resistant nozzle. The datasheets can be found in the Attachments section.

It is strongly recommended to use standard safety equipment during printing and post-processing of parts 3D printed with Spectrum filaments: safety goggles, gloves, breathing apparatus and protective clothing as required.
