The Filament Connector FC01 is a compact and efficient tool designed by Sunlu to reduce 3D printing filament waste and save on material costs. It addresses a common issue in 3D printing: leftover filament pieces too small to complete a project often end up unused or discarded. By allowing users to fuse these leftover filaments, the device minimizes tail material waste, ensuring that even the smallest pieces can be repurposed effectively.
This splicer offers an economical and eco-friendly solution for 3D printing enthusiasts, enabling efficient printing projects with virtually zero waste. Whether it’s combining different colors or simply extending the use of existing material, the FC01 makes it easy to optimize filament usage and eliminate unnecessary waste.
One of the standout features of the Filament Connector FC01 is its ability to seamlessly fuse filaments of the same material but in different colors. This allows users to create customized, multi-colored 3D prints or gradient effects, adding a personalized touch to every project.
The device is compatible with a variety of 3D printing materials such as PLA, ABS, PETG, PCL, PA, and PC, all in 1.75 mm diameter, and supports temperatures up to 240 ºC, delivering excellent fusing performance regardless of the material.
Filament | Default melting temperature | Heating up time | Recommended melting time |
---|---|---|---|
PCL | 85 ºC | 1 min | 5-6 s |
PLA | 185 ºC | 3 min | 7-8 s |
ABS | 220 ºC | 3-4 min | 7-8 s |
PETG | 210 ºC | 3-4 min | 7-8 s |
PA/PC | 230 ºC | 5 min | 9-10 s |
The recommended melting times for different filaments using the SUNLU Filament Connector FC01 vary depending on the material. For optimal results, it’s essential to adjust the settings based on the filament type to ensure a strong, consistent bond.
Designed for ease of use, the Filament Connector FC01 comes with an intuitive interface, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced users. The fusion process is quick, taking only 10-15 seconds to complete. Additionally, the built-in display screen provides real-time monitoring of the fusion process, including temperature updates, ensuring users are always informed.
The Filament Connector comes with a USB cable for connectivity as well a bag of PTFE sleeves (about 200 pieces). The PTFE sleeves provide thermal insulation and protect the filament from sticking to the hot surfaces during the fusion process, ensuring smooth material flow and consistent results. The Filament Connector also comes with a user manual, also available in the Usage Tips section in video format.
Efficiency and safety are at the core of the FC01’s design. The device heats up to 185 ºC in just three minutes, with temperature accuracy maintained within ±3 ºC for reliable operation.
High-quality insulation materials keep the external temperature between 50-100 ºC during use, ensuring the splicer remains safe to handle. With its advanced temperature control and safety features, the SUNLU Filament Connector FC01 offers a stable, efficient, and worry-free filament fusing experience.

To use the SUNLU Filament Connector FC01, begin by ensuring the filament is dry to achieve a strong bond. To dry your filament you can use the Sunlu S2 or S4 filament dryers. Read our blog post on how to properly store filaments to learn more about how to keep your materials in optimal conditions.
Insert the 1.75 mm diameter filament (the hole size is 2.2 mm) into the device carefully, avoiding contact with the black snap part, which can reach temperatures between 50 ºC and 100 ºC.
Once powered on, the machine heats to the preset temperature based on the selected material. Always disconnect the power when not in use to prevent overheating or fire risks. Store the Filament Connector in temperatures above 10 ºC to avoid performance issues or damage. Handle it carefully during use, avoiding contact with heated parts for a safe and efficient experience.
