The PA6-CF20 filament from the Fiberon line of high-performance polymers is a PA6-based material reinforced with 20% carbon fiber, offering exceptional strength, stiffness, and isotropic rigidity. With a heat resistance reaching up to 215 ºC, PA6-CF20 is suitable for demanding applications that require stability under high temperatures. It also features Fiber Adhesion™ Technology, which promotes superior layer adhesion, resulting in robust, cohesive printed parts. These properties make PA6-CF20 ideal for challenging uses in automotive, composite manufacturing, and industrial components, where performance and durability are critical. If a filament with even better mehanical properties and reduced moisture sensitivity is required, please see the Fiberon PA612-CF15 filament.

The PA6-CF20 filament balances advanced properties with user-friendly printing characteristics, including low creep and compatibility with high-speed printing up to 300 mm/s. The filament does not require an actively heated chamber, enabling reliable results at room temperature. Optimal for 3D printers built for composite extrusion, such as the Raise3D E2CF or Bambu Lab X1C, PA6-CF20 also supports multimaterial systems, like Bambu Lab's AMS module. To ensure longevity and consistent print quality, an abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended.

To boost the thermal and mechanical performance, PA6-CF20 parts should undergo a 100 ºC annealing process for 16 hours. This process requires careful handling to prevent deformation. Guidelines include waiting 24 hours after printing (or drying at 80 ºC for 2 hours) to relieve internal stresses, ensuring uniform oven temperatures, and adding supports (PolyDissolve S1) for parts with overhangs, thin walls, or bridging structures. For optimal results, parts should be placed in the oven in the same orientation as during printing, ideally on the build plate itself, ensuring precise dimensional accuracy and long-term stability.

To achieve optimal print quality with the Fiberon PA6-CF20 filament, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 280-300 ºC, and the print bed should be maintained between 40-50 ºC. It must be kept in mind that printing on a hotter bed will deactivate the Warp-Free technology. A room temperature for the build chamber is sufficient, and it is best to keep the cooling fan turned off. Fiberon PA6-CF20 supports high-speed printing with speeds of up to 300 mm/s, making it suitable for projects where efficiency is crucial.

Proper filament storage is essential for maintaining the quality of Fiberon PA6-CF20. To prevent compromised print quality due to moisture, it should be stored in a sealed container with desiccant. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, drying it at 100 ºC for 10 hours in a filament dryer is recommended (or PolyDryer at level 3 for 18 hours) to restore its optimal printing properties.

Since the Fiberon PA6-CF20 filament contains abrasive carbon fibers, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion resistant nozzle (hardnened steel, vanadium, ruby tip, etc) to avoid its excessive wear and, in consequence, inferior part quality.
