The PETG-ESD filament is part of the Fiberon series of high-performance composite materials tailored to meet demanding industrial needs. This PETG-ESD filament is designed to offer reliable electrostatic dissipation (ESD) properties, making it highly suitable for 3D-printed parts used in applications where ESD protection is critical. Its unique formulation is optimized for industries such as automotive and electronics, where safeguarding components from electrostatic discharge is essential. Fiberon PETG-ESD is particularly effective for manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and specialized enclosures, providing both durability and electrostatic protection.

The ESD properties of Fiberon PETG-ESD are achieved through a specialized carbon nanotube infusion into the PETG base, which enables the filament to dissipate electrostatic charges. This low surface resistivity is key for protecting sensitive electronics, especially during assembly processes or when printed parts are used as electronic housings. To maximize the ESD capabilities of Fiberon PETG-ESD, printing at a minimum extrusion temperature of 250 ºC is recommended, ensuring the material's intrinsic electrostatic properties are fully realized in the final part.

Beyond its electrostatic capabilities, Fiberon PETG-ESD also boasts impressive mechanical properties, making it a versatile filament for a range of applications. It has a tensile strength of 36 MPa and a tensile modulus of 1983 MPa, indicating strong resistance to deformation under load. With a flexural strength of 54 MPa and a flexural modulus of 1650 MPa, it can withstand moderate bending forces, and its 7.3% elongation at break ensures durability under stress. For impact resistance, it features a notched Charpy impact strength of 5.7 kJ/m², complemented by a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 76 ºC, adding to its resilience in moderately elevated temperatures.

Ease of use

Fiberon PETG-ESD is user-friendly and does not require an actively heated chamber, making it suitable for standard enclosed 3D printing setups at room temperature. Compatible printers include the Raise3D E2CF and the Bambu Lab X1C, allowing a seamless printing experience for high-quality, ESD-protected parts. This filament is also compatible with material stations like the Bambu Lab AMS and can be used with support materials, expanding its potential for complex, multi-material builds. Furthermore, the Fiberon spools are equipped with a new design feature - a rubber-reinforced edge. This feature provides shock absorption, protects the filament, reduces noise, and prevents slipping during printing.

To achieve optimal print quality with the Fiberon PETG-ESD filament, it is recommended to set the extrusion temperature between 250-290 ºC, and the print bed should be maintained between 70-80 ºC. A room temperature for the build chamber is sufficient, and it is best to keep the cooling fan off.. Fiberon PETG-ESD supports high-speed printing with speeds of up to 500 mm/s, making it suitable for projects where efficiency is crucial.

Proper filament storage is essential for maintaining the quality of Fiberon PETG-ESD. To prevent compromised print quality due to moisture, it should be stored in a sealed container with desiccant. If the filament absorbs excess moisture, drying it at 60 ºC for three hours in a filament dryer is recommended (or PolyDryer at level 3 for 6 hours) to restore its optimal printing properties.

Since the Fiberon PETG-ESD filament contains abrasive carbon nanotubes, it is highly recommended to use an abrasion resistant nozzle (hardnened steel, vanadium, ruby tip, etc) to avoid its excessive wear and, in consequence, inferior part quality.
