FOss HA Sint - Colfeed4Print
The FOss family of materials by Colfeed4Print includes materials designed for the 3D printing of multidirectional and customized interconnected porous structures with a specific consistence. One of the materials in that group is the FOss HA Sint filament specifically formulated to 3D print 100 % inorganic (after proper thermal treatment) bone-inducing scaffolds with custom shapes for in-vitro and in-vivo experiments.
The FOss HA Sint filament is based on polylactic acid (PLA) with 50 % by volume of HA (hydroxyapatite) osseoinductive particles highly dispersed inside (the particle size is 3 µm). The hydroxyapatite powder used in the FOss HA Sinte filament is a medical-grade, synthetic, high-purity, highly crystalline bioresorbable bone substitute material designed to closely mimic the properties and composition of natural bone. The FOss HA Sint filament is characterized by in-vitro validated biodegradation and bioactivity before sintering.
The main benefits offered by the FOss HA Sint filament are that it can replace the pastes usually applied for bone regeneration, thus allowing the preparation of more accurate and personalized models more efficiently via additive manufacturing. Furthermore, FOss HA Sint has improved hydrophilic properties, which means that it could be impregnated in the patient plasma prior to implantation. Another valuable property of this materials is that it can be safely sterilized by UV-light.
The FOss HA Sint filament is easily printable via the FFF 3D printing technology as it doesn't cause any clogging issues. Once the part has been sintered at 1250 ºC, the result is a 100 % hydroxyapatite piece or scaffold.
Just like all Colfeed4Print materials, the FOss HA Sint filament allows for a significant agilization of research by allowing to 3D print precise and highly customized bone-inducing scaffolds. The FOss Ha Sint filament is easy and safe to work with on any FFF 3D printer, and sintering the 3D printed part results in a 100 % inorganic part.
The FOss HA Sint filament is delivered in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant. Once opened, the filament should be stored properly to prevent it from absorbing moisture from the air. The best way to store filaments in a tightly sealed bag with desiccant, in a vacuum sealed container or in an intelligent filament container. It is recommended to dry the filament before printing at 40-60°C for 2 minutes.
The manufacturer recommends printing FOss HA Sint filament at 155-165 ºC on a bed heated to 30-60 ºC at a speed of 30-100 mm/s. The use of 1 or 2 skirts around the part (equal to the printing speed) will improve the adhesion of the part to the print bed. More printing tips can be found in the User Guide document in the Downloads section.
It is highly recommended to wear standard safety equipment during the printing and post-processing of parts 3D printed with the FOss HA Sint filament - safety goggles, gloves, breathing equipment and protective garments, according to needs.
