The Lynx scanner boasts an accuracy of up to 0.1 mm and a resolution of 0.3 mm, operates within a single capture range of 250 x 400 mm, allows a work distance of 400-900 mm, and achieves a scanning speed of up to 10 fps. One of the standout features of the Lynx 3D scanner is its use of a near-infrared light source, which enhances safety and usability.

In addition to its standard capabilities, the Lynx 3D scanner includes a color kit in its Luxury version, which significantly enhances its ability to reproduce the color and texture of scanned objects. This feature is complemented by optical anti-shake modules that ensure smooth and stable scanning even in handheld mode. The scanner’s visual tracking technology enables markerless scanning with a reduced probability of misalignment even with large objects.

Scanning modes and accessories

The Lynx 3D scanner's design is ergonomic to enable various scanning modes. Users can operate the scanner in handheld, tripod, or turntable modes, adapting to various scanning needs. The inclusion of an internal cooling fan helps to manage the device’s temperature, allowing for extended use without performance degradation. It is important to note that the tripod and rotating platform are available only with the Premium and Luxury versions, while the color kit is exclusive to the Luxury package.

For enhanced portability and stability, users can opt for the Connect accessory. This accessory facilitates a seamless connection between the Lynx scanner, a tripod, a mobile phone, and a power supply, creating a robust scanning setup. The Connect accessory features an image processing chip that links the Lynx to a mobile device, enabling high-quality scans even in outdoor environments. It requires a power bank with a 12V PD 22.5W type C interface, which is necessary for powering the device during use.

Software and system requirements

In addition to its sophisticated hardware, the Lynx scanner integrates seamlessly with JM Studio software, a proprietary tool from 3DMAKERPRO. This software, which comes with lifetime free OTA updates, provides comprehensive features for multi-mode data acquisition, high-definition preview, texture mapping, and 3D model generation. JM Studio supports exporting files in various formats such as OBJ, STL, and ASC, enabling users to further edit, refine, render, or print their 3D models with ease. Furthermore, JM Studio is available for mobile devices, enhancing the scanner’s portability and usability.

The Lynx 3D scanner supports multiple output formats, including OBJ, STL, and PLY, making it compatible with a wide range of 3D applications. It is compatible with Windows 10/11 64-bit and MacOS 12/13, as well as Android 10.0 or later and iOS 15.0 or later for mobile devices. The minimum computer requirements include an Intel Core i5 8th generation processor, 16GB RAM, and an MX250 GPU with 2GB VRAM. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use a computer with an Intel Core i7 8th generation processor, 16GB RAM, and an NVIDIA 1060 GPU with 4GB VRAM.

Reliable tool for advanced applications

The Lynx 3D scanner from 3DMAKERPRO offers high precision and versatility, making it ideal for professionals who require detailed and accurate 3D scans of medium-sized and large objects such as vehicles, machines, devices, parts and components, or even humans. With its near-infrared technology, the Lynx scanner effectively captures fine details and complex colors, even in challenging lighting conditions.
