Revopoint MINI 2 - 3D scanner

The Revopoint MINI 2 3D scanner is an industrial-grade blue light high-precision (0.02 mm) 3D scanning device designed specially for the 3D scanning of small objects and ideal for applications such as jewelry design, miniature 3D model making, scientific and medical research, reverse engineering, product retrofit and redesign, quality inspection, digital archivization, and other instances where detailed and highly precise models are required.

The MINI 2 3D scanner is capable of rendering highly accurate models with a resolution of up to 0.05 mm and a single-frame precision of up to 0.02 mm, which can then be exported in .stl format directly for 3D printing or to other formats (.ply or .obj) compatible with mainstream 3D processing software such as 3dsMax, Maya, Fusion360, Autocad, Blender, ZBrush, Tinkercad, and more.

Standard and advanced version

The MINI 2 scanner comes in two versions: standard and advanced. The standard package contains the following elements:

• The MINI 2 scanner.
• A tripod and a phone holder.
• Cables: a USB Type-A to C cable, a 2-in-1 mobile cable, a USB Type-C adapter.
• A mini turntable, a turntable topper and a turntable power cable.

Apart from all the elements contained in the standard package, the advanced package additionally contains a dual-axis turntable and its charger. The dual-axis turntable, with a 360° horizontal design, approximately 30° vertical angle, adjustable speed, and a controlled rotation path for fast point cloud data acquisition, is an accessory tailor-made for the Revopoint 3D scanners, with a 5 kg maximum load. This turntable helps avoid incomplete data acquisition or holes resulting from ambient occlusion.

As far as the scanning conditions, the MINI 2 scanner by Revopoint was designed specially for indoor scanning of objects with a minimum size of 10 x 10 x 10 mm, with a single capture range of 52 x 64 mm at 120 mm and 168 x 132 mm at a distance of 250 mm, and a speed of up to 16 fps. MINI 2 supports scanning by feature and marker alignment, and as far as transparent and highy reflective objects, the use of scanning sprays is highly advisable. A great option are the AESUB scanning sprays available in many variants for different scanning conditions.

The power of blue light scanning

The precision and accuracy are owed to the fact that the MINI 2 3D scanner incorporates a industrial grade class 1 blue light. With the blue light technology, ultra-high-resolution structured light (harmless to the human body) is projected that has a strong ability to resist ambient light.

This allows for an effective capturing of detailed scans of objects as small as 10 x 10 x 10 mm. All this is done with a high precision of the acquired point cloud data (0.05 mm) and the impressive single-frame precision of up to 0.02 mm. In order to provide more scanning fluency and a rate of up to 16 fps, upgraded intelligent algorithms have been used.

The incorporation of an advanced 9-axis IMU positioning sensor system and the dual-core 1.8 GHz CPU have helped significantly reduce stitching errors in successive scanning to achieve an accurate spatial position faster, despite an unstable scanning surface or unsteady hands.

Another fantastic feature of the MINI 2 3D scanner is that it can directly generate very vivid colorful models thanks to the high-resolution global exposure sensor, tactile buttons for real-time exposure adjustment, synchronization with the 2 MP dual cameras (depth camera and RGB camera), and flash LEDs to evenly light objects and remove shadows. This way, the generated models in full and accurate color can be used in 3D animation, color 3D printing, AR/VR, etc.

Easy to use and handy

The smart user-oriented design of the MINI 2 3D scanner makes it very easy to work with and versatile. MINI can work as a handheld and turntable scanner, but also in tripod mode. All methods guarantee high precision and great scanning results. The tripod included with both packages is detachable and allows to quickly adjust the scanner at a proper height and angle.

Furthermore, MINI 2 is easy to carry as it weighs only 175 g and can be can be taken anywhere and stored in any space. MINI uses only one USB cable for charging and data transfer, which not only greatly simplifies the user experience but it also makes MINI 2 an efficient device with power-saving technology. Furthermore, the MINI 2 scanner also offers WiFi 6 connectivity for a lower latency and more stable mobile scanning.

MINI 2 is compatible with Windows 10/11 (64-bit), Android, iOS and macOS and the user software is powerful yet straightforward and easy to use. With the help of the Revopoint software (Revo Scan 5, Revo Studio, and Revo Calibration), professional 3D scanning, modeling and calibrating can be performed to further perfect the obtained scan. In order to use the MINI 2 scanner with a PC, these minimum requirements must be met:

• For Windows: RAM: ≥16 GB, CPU: i5 12th/13th/14th / i7 12th/13th/14th / i9 all series (or better).
• For macOS: RAM: ≥8 GB, CPU: M1 Pro/M1 Max/M1 Ultra / M2/M2 Pro/M2 Max/M2 Ultra / M3/M3 Pro/M3 Max (or better).
