Ultrafast resins for accurate and rigid parts for rapid prototyping applications.

The x45 resin was developed by Nexa 3D in collaboration with BASF especially for the NXE 400 3D printer by Nexa 3D. The result is a tough material ideal for the 3D printing of accurate, detailed and rigid models and functional prototypes that require high strength and durability. The color varieties make it possible to print either translucid models (Clear) or models with a natural finish, always with excellent optical clarity.

In combination with the ultrafast Nexa 3D printers, the x45 resin is capable of very high print speeds exceeding 15 cm/hr, which allows the user to achieve fast turnaround times for the 3D printing of housings, enclosures, packaging products, footwear components, etc.

The productivity increase observed with the Nexa 3D materials and printers is estimated to be around twentyfold compared to competing equipment and materials. This feature makes it possible to create a more agile design and 3D printing workflow, and increase manufacturing flexibility and independence.

Certain precautions must be taken when working with 3D printing resins. The user must ensure that the working space is adequately ventilated, and that protective goggles, gloves and garments are worn at all times. The x45 resin should be stored in a tightly closed container/resin vat to avoid resin deterioration due to UV exposure. The container/vat should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame.

Parts 3D printed with the Nexa 3D x45 resin will achieve their specific properties only after being subjected to post-processing by washing and curing. If applicable, the support structures must be removed from the part before curing and the part must be washed. Nexa3D recommends 2 wash intervals (2 minutes each) in IPA alcohol or xClean. It is recommended to use two buckets in the cleaning process, especially when working with multiple resin colors, to prevent resin residue from sticking to the part.

Once washed, the parts 3D printed with the x45 resin must be dried and then cured either with the help of an LED or wide spectrum lamp, or in the Nexa 3D Wash+Cure station developed especially for the washing and curing of parts 3D printed on the XiP 3D printer. The recommended washing, drying and curing times can be consulted on the manufacturer's website for each Nexa 3D resin.
