Advanced PLA filament that features high-resolution printing and mechanical properties.

The filament for 3D Printing PLA 3D850 Natural has been designed from biodegradable resin from the formulation "Ingeo™ PLA3D850" of the prestigious 3D printing applications company NatureWorks.

This PLA 3D850 filament has a very low thermal contraction, so it is ideal for printing parts with high resolution and also with better than a normal PLA mechanical and thermal properties. (The PLA 3D850 supports up to 85 °C, 55 ºC compared to a normal PLA).

Also highlights an elevated rate of crystallization, so because of this can increase to more than 50% printing speed with respect to other materials.

This property also allows printing of pieces of very high resolution and complexity where it is important to note even the smallest detail. This prevents deformation parts and is useful for printing and cantilevered bridges without supports. Due to their high mechanical properties of impact, bending and tension (similar to the ABS H.I), tri-fold obtain pieces of great resistance. That is, we can obtain parts with improved ABS characteristics but with a biodegradable PLA and easy to print since it is not necessary to have a 3D printer with a hot bed.

There is another PLA filaments additive especially for properties similar to ABS in heat resistance such as PLA-90, which resists up to about 100 °C. For this reason, both strands are very useful for many users of 3D printing can not print in ABS or HIPS because they have the 3D printer located in an enclosed area where odors can be annoying and harmful.

Natural PLA 3D850 filament (1.75mm or 2.85 mm) is made of high quality PLA, without recycled material and fully stabilized with a variability of ± 0.03 mm diameter which produces warping and which is obtained one excellent resolution printing. With this PLA 3D850 Natural Smartfil you can print at a faster print speed (up to 50% more) than with other PLA filaments obtaining a better surface finish.

In addition, the PLA Natural 3D850 (1.75mm or 2,85mm) filament is a permanent, odorless polymer. The extrusion temperature for printing with this  PLA 3D850 Natural plastic must be between 190 and 250 ° C. With this filament PLA 3D850 you can print easily since it is not necessary to have a 3D printer with hot base and also has a very low thermal contraction. Tips on use tab you will find more interesting information for optimal results using PLA3D850 Natural filament in your 3D printer.

Besides this filament PLA 3D850 resembles the ABS also because it is easier to drill, paint or sanding, unlike the PLA normal.  If you want to achieve extraordinary surface finish in the Smartfil PLA White filament (1.75mm or 2.85 mm) using coating designed specifically for 3D printing you can find in the accessories category called XTC-3D.  For higher yields of 3D printing it is advisable to cover the bed of the printer with Magigoo, Blue Tape  or  3DLac you can find in the store fixtures.

Furthermore 750 grams spool of PLA 3D850 Smartfil (1.75mm or 2.85 mm) are packaged in the Smart Bag that is a novel multilayer packaging that is recyclable and reusable and is used to store and protect a single spool filament several times by offering greater protection against external agents such as humidity.

3D printing with PLA 3D850 is simpler even than with a normal PLA, since it is not absolutely necessary to have warm bed, but if possible it is recommended that the base is at 40- 60ºC approximately, to avoid display any small indication of "warping". The extruder temperature must be between 190 and 250 °C depending on the color and the 3D printer used. In our blog article 3D printing is explained about the main concerns of 3D printing PLA and ABS.

If your printer has a fan nozzle it is recommended that you activate it for best results. If you need to print very thin and tall pieces, you will see that the PLA plastic doesn´t give you enough time to harden each layer, so that the piece will be as if it had melted. To solve this problem we give a very simple advice, it prints at the same time at least two pieces, and place them separate at the base. Thus while the extruder is moved from one piece to another, the plastic has time to harden each layer in achieving a better result.
The adhesion of the first layer is key and probably the most important factors for good impressions. so you can use Magigoo, Blue Tape, BuildTak or 3DLac.

It is also advisable to set the "raft", which is to create a first thick layer, such as media, who will not suffer that contraction and on which to print the piece. The disadvantage of using the "raft" is that this first layer will have a less smooth.
It is advisable to lower the density of "infill" parameter for the part to store less heat. As for the "brim" (the membrane that is created around the piece) parameter is recommended to set it to never greater thicknesses of 5mm to help the first layer will not peel.

You should note that if the Smartfil PLA filament is printed below 225C will get a glossy finish, whereas if you print more than 225 °C temperature, the finish will be matte.

As for the interior temperature where printed it is recommended to be controlled and no drafts.
