Accurate professional 3D scanner with stand and turntable. Great value for money.

The SOL 3D scanner is an accurate, easy to use and affordable scanner from the product catalog of Scan Dimension, a globally renowned Danish 3D scanning company. The SOL scanner operates on the principles of laser triangulation and white light. SOL offers accuracy of 0.1 mm, a camera resolution of 5 MP, and texture and color 3D scanning. The SOL scanner works right out of the box, with no need for complex multi-step assembly or time-consuming calibration.

The scanner comes with a scanner stand, a turntable, and a blackout tent to provide the users with versatile scanning options. The scanned objects can be as small as 25 x 25 mm but no bigger than 170 x 170 mm. The turntable supports a weight of up to 2 kg. With the SOL 3D scanner a complete 360º scan at low resolution takes only 10 minutes (turbo mode) and 20 minutes in the normal mode with medium resolution.

To make the scanner even more versatile, its design includes adjustable elements that allow for setting the scanner's position with respect to the turntable to allow for near scanning for small objects or far scanning for big objects.

The included software is SOL Creator for scanning and SOL Viewer for inspection and exporting. The SOL Creator software offers guidance on the entire scanning process, with many automated features such as global point cloud alignment and mesh reconstruction and texturing for the users' convenience.

The SOL software is available in many languages to make the scanner accessible to users from all over the world: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The software updates are automatic whenever Internet connection is available, and the supported export file formats are OBJ, STL, PLY, DAE and XYZ. This makes it easy to integrate the SOL scanner into the 3D printing workflow and create a physical copy of the 3D scanned object with the help of additive manufacturng. Sharing the 3D scans is made very easy by a complete integration of the SOL scanner with Sketchfab.

In the Downloads section and the Usage Tips section, as well as on the Scan Dimension YouTube channel, the user can find numerous useful resources explaining in detail the features and functioning of the SOL 3D scanner, as well as tips on the 3D scanning of various textures and objects.

Thanks to its ease of use combined with high scanning quality, the SOL 3D scanner is perfect for both professional use in design, engineering and manufacturing (prototyping, reverse engineering, pre-manufacturing), as well as for hobbyistic uses and applications in education to teach STEM skills oriented at 3D modeling and 3D printing.

The manufacturer provides many useful video tutorials on the Scan Dimension YouTube channel. The videos show in detail the Sol scanner's features and explain how to use the scanner in order to get the best scanning results. This tutorial video shows in a few simple steps how to set up the Sol scanner and the software, and how to start scanning:
