Timberfill by Fillamentum is a PLA-based material additivized with spruce fibers to give the 3D printed parts the look, feel and temporary smell of wood. Originally released in filament format, Timberfill is also available in pellet format for BAAM (Big Area Additive Manufacturing) and MAAM (Middle Area Additive Manufacturing) with the help of FGF manufacturing solutions such as the CEAD AM Flexbot, the CEAD E25 extruder, the Mahor V4 pellet extruder, or the Dyze Pulsar extruder

The Timberfill pellets come in the color Light Wood Tone, exhibit high mechanical resistance and hardness (Shore hardness 77 D), great interlayer adhesion, and a temperature resistance of up to 50 ºC. The Timberfill pellets are as easy to work with as standard PLA. The recommended processing temperature is 165-185 ºC.

Since Timberfill is a 100% bio-based material, it is fully biodegradable in industrial conditions. Industrial composting plants are usually more controlled than natural environments, and have the ideal pressure and temperature conditions for these materials to degrade in the shortest possible time.

The proper storage of 3D printing materials is key to smooth extrusion, and great surface quality and mechanical properties of the 3D printed part. The Timberfill pellets should be stored in a closed package in dry conditions at temperature below 50 ºC, protected from UV-light at all times. If the pellets absorb excess moisture, they should be dried for 2-3 hours at 50 ºC. The recommended processing temperature for the Timberfill pellets is 165 - 185 ºC.
