The Prusa MK4S Upgrade Kit is designed for users who want to upgrade their MK3S/MK3S+ series 3D printer to a higher level of performance and precision. This kit provides a complete transition, offering significant improvements in electronics, mechanics, and overall system reliability.

Before requesting the upgrade, it is essential to check which power supply is installed on your printer and which version of the heated bed connector is present. This step is crucial to ensure proper compatibility. Depending on the selected options, additional components may be supplied to guarantee seamless integration with the kit.

Power Supply Compatibility

There are two versions of power supplies present in the original printers:

Black and silver power supplies

  • Black power supply: fully compatible, no additional changes required.
  • Silver power supply: a compatible cable harness must be added or replaced with a black power supply.

Heated Bed Compatibility

It is also important to check the type of connection on the heated bed:

  • Bed with 2+3 screws: ready for upgrade, no modifications required.
  • Bed with 2+1 screws: the bed must be replaced to ensure proper operation.

It is recommended to correctly select the options in the configurator before placing the order to ensure full kit compatibility with the printer.

The frame and the MK52 heated bed are not included, as replacing them provides no functional advantage. However, these items can be purchased as spare parts if needed.

Differences Between Upgrade Packages

The main difference between the MK3.9 and MK4 upgrade packages lies in the stepper motors. The MK4 features higher precision motors (0.9°) that reduce fine vertical artifacts (VFA), achieving superior print quality. The MK3.9 version, while slightly lower in this aspect, still provides results very close to the maximum level.

This product is supplied as a kit, so the user must perform the complete installation. The black injection-molded spool holder is not included.
