The Raise3D Flexible Filament Auxiliary Feeder is an auxiliary feeding and buffering system designed to significantly improve the printing process with flexible filaments on the Raise3D E3. This device integrates into the filament feed path to increase speed and stability, especially when working with elastic materials such as TPU and TPE, which often present challenges in traditional extrusion systems.

Thanks to its optimized design, the feeder allows the E3 to print high-quality TPU parts at speeds of up to 200 mm/s, maintaining a constant material flow and reducing common issues such as jams or irregular feeding associated with highly flexible filaments. This feeding improvement not only increases production speed, but also expands the printer’s compatibility with a wider range of elastic filaments, enabling its use for both functional prototypes and end-use parts that require flexibility and impact resistance.

The module installs directly onto the printer and acts as a reinforcement of the filament inlet, working together with the standard extruder to efficiently handle materials such as TPU-95A, TPU-90A and TPU-80A. This approach of multiplying the feed rate and filament buffering reduces clogs and improves repeatability in demanding parts, which is particularly valuable in production or advanced manufacturing environments.

This accessory is ideal for E3 users looking to maximize performance with flexible or elastomeric filaments, offering greater speed, reliability and versatility without compromising print quality. Its integration with the printer system is designed to be straightforward and features a low learning curve, facilitating adoption even for those who work intensively with TPU and other flexible materials.

General information

Manufacturer Raise3D

The auxiliary flexible filament feeder for Raise3D is an additional feeding and buffer system designed to significantly improve printing with flexible filaments such as TPU and TPE on the Raise3D E3 printer. Thanks to this module, the printer can increase feeding speed and maintain a consistent filament flow even at high printing speeds (up to ~200 mm/s), reducing jams and feeding issues typical of highly elastic materials.

  • Proper and secure installation: install the auxiliary feeder along the filament path of the Raise3D E3 according to the manufacturer’s instructions, ensuring correct alignment of the “IN” and “OUT” connections to avoid reverse or irregular feeding.
  • Use dry filaments: TPU and TPE filaments tend to absorb moisture; before printing, dry the material if necessary (e.g., at ~60 °C for several hours) to reduce the risk of jams and improve flow consistency.
  • Filament pressure and handling: during loading, carefully feed the flexible filament and push it into the feeder until it exits through the “OUT” port, avoiding bending or twisting within the auxiliary system.
  • Material compatibility: use filaments with Shore (A) hardness typical of flexible materials (for example, TPU-95A, TPU-90A, TPU-80A and TPE) that the system can manage effectively.
  • Adjusted printing speed: although the feeder enables flexible materials to be printed at high speeds (~200 mm/s), adjusting printing parameters (temperature, retraction, and speed) according to the specific material helps maintain quality and avoid artifacts.
  • System integration: the feeder works in conjunction with the standard extruder; therefore, keeping the filament path and transition points (PTFE tubes, guides) clean contributes to stable feeding.
  • Post-intensive use inspection: after printing very flexible materials, visually check that no residue has accumulated on the drive rollers or internal surfaces of the module; clean if necessary.
  • Avoid excessive stress: do not force filament insertion if significant resistance is encountered; stopping the feed and realigning the filament can prevent jams and premature mechanism wear.
