The PETG HF from Bambu Lab is designed for those who want to print faster without sacrificing quality. It is optimized for significantly higher print speeds than standard PETG, reducing typical issues such as oozing and filament buildup at the nozzle (“clumping”). Its matte finish and smooth texture provide visual uniformity, even when speed varies during printing.

This filament offers a balanced combination of mechanical strength and durability. It has an XY tensile strength of approximately 34 ± 4 MPa, good stiffness (XY flexural modulus of around 2050 ± 120 MPa), and adequate impact resistance (≈ 31.5 kJ/m²). It withstands heat deflection temperatures under load (HDT 0.45 MPa) of about 69 °C, allowing functional parts to maintain thermal stability during everyday use and even outdoors.

PETG-HF is suitable for outdoor applications

To get the most out of PETG HF, a specific set of settings and best practices is recommended. Before use, it should be dried for about 8 hours at 65 °C (or equivalent conditions depending on equipment) and stored with relative humidity below 20 % to avoid defects. Ideal extrusion temperatures are between 230-260 °C, the heated bed between 65-75 °C, and a textured or smooth PEI plate should be used, applying adhesive if necessary. Ventilation should also be adjusted to support bridging and overhangs without excessively cooling the part, while speed can reach up to 300 mm/s as long as the geometry allows.

Its water resistance allows printing objects like this fridge

Thanks to its formulation, PETG HF is suitable for outdoor parts exposed to water, UV radiation, and moderate environmental conditions, such as decorative objects, gardening items, outdoor accessories, signage, or frequently used mechanical parts. It is also ideal for rapid prototyping, serial production with well-calibrated printers, and users who value professional finishes without complications during setup.
