The colorFabb_XT filament by colorFabb is a high-quality technical filament made of copolyester, based on the Eastman Chemical polymer Amphora AM1800. Available in many colours and formats, XT filament is ideal for engineering applications in projects ranging from functional machine parts to prototypes or precision components. Thanks to its styrene- and BPA-free formulation, XT filament meets EU and FDA requirements for food contact.

This filament’s translucent colour is characterised by the absence of colourant, giving parts made with this colour a crystalline transparency. Other colours include white, black, light grey, dark grey, green, and blue. Parts printed with ColorFabb’s XT filament not only stand out for their impressive visual appeal but also for their good layer adhesion and robustness and durability. XT filament also offers high impact resistance, high glass transition temperatures, and good chemical resistance. These characteristics are crucial for applications in hostile environments where parts must withstand mechanical stress, heat, and aggressive substances.

XT filament is distinguished by its ease of use, especially due to its minimal odour emission, making it suitable for use in smaller, less-ventilated spaces (although it is still recommended to use an air purifier such as Zimpure 2 to ensure optimal air quality). Moreover, XT filament does not require a closed chamber, enabling easy integration into various open configurations as long as a heated bed is available. This versatility, along with its ease of handling, makes XT an accessible option for a wide range of printing environments.

To prevent moisture absorption, store XT in a dry, sealed plastic bag with a filament drying capsule or in an airtight container. Inline filament dryers are recommended during printing, and if needed, drying the filament before printing will ensure optimal print quality.

For optimal performance of the XT filament, colorFabb recommends using a printer with a heated bed (60-70 ºC). Once the part is printed, let the build plate cool down to 20-30 ºC before removing the part.

When it comes to the part cooling fan, to much cooling will reduce the XT filament's layer adhesion and lead to brittle parts. It is recommended to start with 50% cooling, observe the outcome and reduce cooling if necessary.
