The XiP build plate, machined from high quality aluminium, is an original Nexa 3D replacement for the build plate for the XiP 3D printer.

The build plate is a consumable prone to wear over time. If the build plate is not maintained properly, the quality of the printed parts and even the condition of other printer elements can be compromised (the Everlast 2 Membrane may be punctured). The XiP build plate must be replaced when its surface is scratched or gouged from not removing the prints carefully enough or cleaning the build plate incorrectly. Tips on how to properly maintain the XiP build plate can be found in the Usage Tips section.

Before usage, the XiP build plate should be levelled and aligned as explained in the leveling guide provided by Nexa 3D.

If the build plate is not maintained properly and its surface is damaged in any way or resin leftovers are present, the quality of the prints and the condition of other XiP components will be influenced. This is why it is crucial to inspect the state of the build platform before every print and clean it or replace it according to the needs. It is recommended to clean the build plate with 90 % (or lower) IPA alcohol and a paper towel.

When removing prints or resin residue from the XiP build plate, the user should make sure not to scratch or gouge the build plate because the resulting sharp ridges can puncture the Everlast 2 Membrane. If a leakage (Image 1) is found on the LCD, this means that the membrane may have been punctured. However, before replacing the membrane the build plate should be thoroughly inspected for sharp ridges (while wearing gloves) and if any are found, the build plate can be sanded (with 220 grit sandpaper).

Sanding may also be necessary after certain resins are used, such as the KeyModel Ultra resin (due to the mold release agent it contains). The build plate should be sanded directionally up and down and side to side, and then rinsed and wiped down to eliminate any letfover metal dust. More maintenance tips can be found on the Nexa 3D support page.
