The DiamondBack hotend for Bambu Lab printers, developed collaboratively by E3D, DiamondBack, and Bambu Lab, is a premium-quality hotend for 1.75 mm filament that serves as a direct replacement for models like the X1E, X1 Carbon, P1S, and P1P thanks to identical mounting dimensions to the stock Bambu Lab hotends.

Officially approved and licensed by Bambu Lab, this hotend assembly comes in nozzle diameters of 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm, providing versatility for various print resolutions and speeds.

Ultimate abrasion resistance

Engineered for high-temperature performance, the DiamondBack hotend operates at a maximum of 320 ºC on the X1E and 300 ºC on the X1C, P1P, and P1S. It is specifically optimized for printing abrasive materials, such as filaments with carbon or glass fibers and metal- and ceramic-infused filaments.

The key feature of this hotend is its nozzle, which incorporates an actual diamond insert rather than a mere diamond coating. This design ensures superior wear resistance, setting it apart from other nozzles on the market.

Polycrystalline diamond tip

The nozzle’s Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) tip delivers unparalleled durability by combining thousands of diamond crystals with a proprietary binder, resulting in a structure that retains the hardness of diamonds while minimizing brittleness.

This makes the DiamondBack hotend ideal for printing engineering-grade materials with fiber, metallic or ceramic loads. The PCD structure also enhances longevity, significantly extending the lifespan of the nozzle even under heavy-duty use with abrasive filaments.

Benefits across industries

In addition to its exceptional wear resistance, the DiamondBack hotend offers best-in-class thermal conductivity, which enhances interlayer adhesion and strengthens printed parts. Its polished diamond tip provides a low friction surface, resulting in ultra-smooth top layers with a near-ironing effect, giving prints a superior finish.

The DiamondBack hotend a powerful tool that will transform the Bambu Lab 3D printers into powerhouses for printing reinforced polymers with carbon, glass fibers, ceramics, or metals. This upgrade enables high-strength, durable parts for demanding applications in aerospace, automotive, energy, medical, and more.
