The SuperVolcano hotend is developed for high-speed large prints. Compared to the E3D V6 hotends, the SuperVolcano has a volumetric performance up to 11 times higher, resulting in significant time savings.

The heater block of the Hotend SuperVolcano is made of nickel-plated copper, designed to remain intact even at high temperatures and long printing times. In addition, it has a high-temperature glass fibre sheath to insulate the block and facilitate thermal performance.

Compatible with a multitude of materials

The SuperVolcano Hotend reaches 285 ºC, although it can be modified by means of a PT100 or Thermocouple sensor, reaching up to 400 ºC. This modification allows 3D printing with advanced materials such as PEEK, PEKK or PEI Ultem among others, widely used in industrial applications.

Wide range of nozzles

The SuperVolcano Hotend works with large nozzles, from 0.6 mm to 1.4 mm, which are available in brass or hardened steel. Based on studies and tests carried out by E3D, it has been concluded that the use of a 1.0 mm nozzle offers the best balance between speed and detail.

As well as enabling faster print speeds, the large exit diameter nozzles allow for a larger printed surface area which improves layer adhesion and adhesion to the base, greatly reducing the chances of warping.

SuperVolcano is compatible with the entire E3D range, allowing you to upgrade to Hotends V6, Titan Aero, Titan Aqua or Hemera for bigger and faster 3D prints than ever before.

Kit Contents

  • 1 x Plated copper heater block
  • 1 x Thermistor cartridge
  • 1 x Thermistor extension cable
  • 1 x Fiberglass sleeve
  • 1 x 80W heater cartridge (12V or 24V)
  • 1 x 1mm brass nozzle for 1.75mm or 2.85mm filament
  • 1 x Thermal paste
  • 1 x Mosfet gasket (Only for 12V)
  • 1 x Mosfet wires (Only for 12V)

After 3D printing with filaments containing carbon, metallic, wood, ceramic fibres, etc., the filament must be removed and the Smart Clean cleaning filament inserted to avoid subsequent clogging.

To assemble the parts of the original E3D SuperVolcano, the following steps must be followed:

  1. Screw the nozzle onto the metal block.
  2. Insert the thermistor in its housing and its respective safety screw.
  3. Insert the thermistor cartridge in its housing and its two safety screws.
  4. Screw the original E3D SuperVolcano onto the stud that joins the heatsink to the metal block until it stops.
  5. Carefully fit the fibreglass sleeve.
  6. Mount the assembled HotEnd in the 3D printer and connect the electronics.

For more details on the assembly, please see the following link.

After mounting the original E3D SuperVolcano on the 3D printer, the height of the z-axis must be adjusted, as this installation increases the distance of the HotEnd by several centimetres.
