The TPU 87A filament offers an excellent balance between flexibility, durability, and precision, but to achieve top-quality results, it is essential to correctly configure the 3D printer. Below are the optimal conditions to obtain consistent, elastic parts with a professional finish.

Nozzle temperature

An extrusion temperature between 210 °C and 240 °C is recommended. This range allows proper melting of the material, ensuring stable extrusion without clogs and excellent layer adhesion.

Heated bed temperature

The bed should be maintained between 40 °C and 80 °C to optimize initial adhesion and prevent warping. Stable temperatures improve dimensional accuracy, especially for large or complex parts.

Recommended printing speed

A speed of 15 to 70 mm/s is suggested. Lower speeds favor controlled material flow, reducing defects and improving surface quality, while higher speeds are suitable for less detailed prints.

Cooling and enclosed chamber

The layer fan can be set up to 100% to improve detail definition and uniform material cooling. An enclosed chamber is not required, as TPU 87A maintains excellent thermal stability even on open printers.

Filament drying

It is recommended to use a filament dryer or drying box before printing to remove moisture absorbed by the material. This prevents bubbles or surface defects and improves extrusion consistency.

Recommended nozzle

For long prints or high-friction applications, it is recommended to use a ruby nozzle or hardened nozzle, which prolongs the life of the hotend and ensures precise, consistent extrusion.

Bed adhesion

In most cases adhesives are not required. However, to increase adhesion or prevent warping, specialized products such as Dimafix, 3DLac, or Magigoo can be applied to improve first-layer adhesion and make part removal easier.
