PA6-CF - Bambu Lab
The Bambu Lab PA6-CF is a filament composed of polyamide 6 (nylon) reinforced with carbon fiber, designed for users who need parts with high stiffness, mechanical strength, and excellent thermal stability in dry environments. This material provides superior flexural hardness, impact and vibration resistance, making it ideal for structural components, fastenings, automotive parts, and demanding functional pieces.
Key features include a melting temperature of approximately 223 °C, flexural modulus of around 5460 MPa under dry conditions, and flexural strength of around 151 MPa in the same state. Its heat resistance is remarkable, with a heat deflection temperature (HDT, 0.45 MPa) of about 186 °C. Additionally, it has a density of ~1.09 g/cm³ and a relatively significant water absorption rate, so storage and usage require low-humidity conditions.
For best results, dry this filament for 8–12 hours at around 80 °C before use, maintain relative humidity below 20%, preferably use hardened nozzles (0.4 mm or 0.6 mm), hotbed at 80–100 °C, closed printer enclosure when possible, print speeds below 100 mm/s, and apply adhesive if needed. These settings allow PA6-CF to deliver precise and durable technical parts.
Bambu Lab’s PA6-CF is an advanced option for users seeking filaments that combine high mechanical performance with good thermal resistance, provided its usage requirements are respected. It is not a “plug and play” material like PLA, but for applications requiring robustness, stiffness under load, and dimensional stability, it delivers outstanding results.
