Smooth-On

Smooth-On, founded in 1895, is a leading manufacturer in the development and production of silicone rubber, polyurethane and plastic rubbers, rigid and flexible urethane foams, epoxies and other types of materials. Its production facilities are located in Macungie, Pennsylvania (USA), equipped with the most advanced technology, an experienced R&D team, and a very strong market position. Some of the Smooth-On products enjoy popularity in the 3D printing sectors, for example the XTC-3D coating or the UVO Colorants.

XTC-3D

XTC-3D is a liquid epoxy resin that is applied as a coating layer for smoothing and finishing 3D printed parts. XTC-3D consists of two liquids (A and B) that are mixed to produce the final product. The coating spreads evenly without leaving brush strokes. The working time is 10 minutes and the curing time is approximately 4 hours (depending on the mass and temperature). When XTC-3D dries, it leaves a hard and impact resistant finish. You can add colors and metal effects on top very easily. This coating can be sanded if you want to leave a completely smooth surface at the cost of reducing the glossy finish.

UVO Colorants

The UVO colorants are a type of concentrated, phthalate-free urethane color pigments designed to withstand ultraviolet light. When incorporated in modest quantities into Smooth‑On epoxy, urethane rubber, plastic, or foam products, these pigment dispersions result in an opaque finish of the part. Available in 9 colors, the UVO colorants are very easy to mix to obtain custom shades.
