Fiberlogy Matte PLA NatureWorks

Matte PLA is a high-quality 3D printing filament designed for those seeking a professional and sophisticated finish in every project. Its matte surface reduces the effect of visible layers and provides a uniform, elegant look without the characteristic shine of traditional PLA. Thanks to this property, printed objects gain a modern style that stands out both in decorative pieces and in professional-use prototypes.

This filament expands the renowned matte series from Fiberlogy, which includes alternatives such as Matte PET-G, Matte ASA, and MattFlex 40D. Its main advantages include minimal warping, excellent layer adhesion, and smooth printing, making it ideal for both beginners and experts alike. Matte PLA retains all the processing ease of standard PLA, with the added value of a premium matte finish that enhances the outcome of every 3D print.

Applications of Matte PLA in 3D Printing

Matte PLA filament is perfect for creating decorative models such as figures, frames, and interior design elements that require a flawless aesthetic finish. It is also used in the production of custom gadgets such as keychains, cases, and holders, as well as hobby parts, cosplay accessories, and gaming projects. Its versatility also makes it a recommended choice for jewelry in 3D printing, including earrings, bracelets, and pendants, thanks to the visual quality provided by its matte finish.

Features of Matte PLA

Matte PLA stands out for its ease of printing and excellent dimensional stability, with minimal shrinkage and warping even on home-grade 3D printers. Its matte surface hides imperfections and print layers, delivering a more homogeneous and attractive result. In addition, it is a biodegradable filament, making it a more sustainable alternative compared to other 3D printing materials.

Highest Quality Raw Materials

The PLA from NatureWorks, used in the production of Matte PLA, ensures superior quality in every spool. NatureWorks is one of the world’s largest producers of biopolymers, and its flagship material, Ingeo™ PLA, is derived from renewable plant resources such as corn starch. This polymer is distinguished by its low level of impurities and strict control of physicochemical parameters, ensuring a filament with stable melting, no nozzle clogs, and high reliability in every 3D print. The result is a safe, consistent material suitable for both professional projects and personal creations.

Technical Data of Matte PLA

Available in 1.75 mm diameter, with a net weight of 0.85 kg and a wide range of 15 colors, Matte PLA offers versatile options for projects requiring precision, aesthetics, and performance. The combination of balanced mechanical properties, ease of use, and premium finish makes it a reference PLA filament for 3D printers.

Conclusion

Matte PLA filament is the ideal choice for those seeking 3D prints with a professional and elegant look. Its matte finish, combined with the processing stability of NatureWorks PLA, ensures superior quality results in decoration, prototyping, gadgets, and jewelry. With a wide range of colors and reliable performance, it stands out as an essential material for those who value both aesthetics and precision in 3D printing.

The Matte PLA filament offers an elegant matte finish and high print quality, but to get the most out of its properties, it is recommended to follow some setup guidelines. The suggested printing temperature is between 200 and 230 °C, allowing proper material melting and good layer adhesion. The print bed should be kept at 60 °C to prevent warping and ensure a stable base for the first layers.

Matte PLA does not require an enclosed chamber, making it easy to use on both home and professional 3D printers. It is recommended to set the fan between 75 and 100% to improve cooling and maintain detail definition. The material flow (flowrate) should be adjusted between 90 and 100%, balancing extrusion and avoiding excess material that could affect surface quality.

Printing speed can reach up to 150 mm/s, depending on the printer and part size. Matte PLA adheres properly to surfaces such as smooth PEI, textured PEI, or glass, offering versatility in printer type and bed preparation.

To maintain filament properties and ensure consistent prints, it is recommended to dry the filament at 50 °C for 4 hours before use, especially if stored in humid environments. With these settings, Matte PLA delivers precise models, professional finishes, and an elegant style in every project.
