Treed Filaments, an Italian 3D printing materials manufacturer that stands out for its wide catalogue of filaments developed for various applications and sectors, such as the medical sector, the architecture and art sector or high-performance technical filaments for industry. Among these materials is the PC-ABS V0 filament.

PC-ABS V0 is a polymer alloy, consisting of PC and ABS, and combines the outstanding properties of both polymers.

It is an easy-to-print filament as long as printing is carried out with the correct print settings, and it has a high mechanical strength and hardness which makes it a highly recommended material for use in automotive and railway applications.

PC-ABS V0 has been previously tested in order to successfully obtain the certification that makes it suitable for railway applications. It is certified V0 according to UL94, a test that measures the burning time of a vertically fixed polymer sample after it has come into contact with flame. In this case, its classification is V0 because the end result is that the fire is extinguished within 10 seconds without the appearance of dripping.

Thanks to PC-ABS V0 filament, many trains in Europe are getting back on the tracks as this special technopolymer material enables the replacement of worn electrical components in trains, optimising costs without loss of quality.

PC-ABS is prone to moisture absorption, so it is recommended to store the filament in an airtight container with a desiccant sachet or use a PrintDry vacuum-sealed container. If the filament has been exposed to humid conditions, it is recommended to use a filament dryer such as PrintDry to dry the filament. Using wet filament can cause degradation of the polymer, increase the brittleness of the material or affect the adhesion of layers when 3D printing a part.

PC-ABS V0 is a very printable material, which makes it an excellent solution for automotive electrical components as well as for the railway industry.

To use Treed PC-ABS filament, it is recommended to use a printing temperature between 260 and 280 ºC, and a bed temperature between 90 and 110 ºC. It is recommended to use a printer with a heated chamber.

In addition to this, it is recommended to use a specific adhesive such as Magigoo PC, or use 3D Lac to improve adhesion to the base, especially when printing large parts, avoiding the warping effect to a large extent. It is also very useful to activate a 5 - 10 mm brim around the part to be printed.

In terms of printing speed, it is recommended to print at a speed between 25 and 35 mm/s.

PC-ABS is sensitive to moisture absorption, so it is recommended to store the filament in an airtight container with a desiccant sachet or use a PrintDry vacuum-sealed container. If the filament has been exposed to humid conditions, it is recommended to use a filament dryer such as PrintDry II to dry the filament. Using wet filament may cause degradation of the polymer, increase the brittleness of the material or affect the adhesion of layers when 3D printing a part.
