ABS Kevlar is a filament reinforced with aramid fibres, synthetic fibres that are distinguished by their high temperature resistance and high mechanical performance.

ABS alone is distinguished by superior mechanical and thermal properties compared to conventional plastics and is resistant to high temperatures and chemicals.

In this case, the ABS filament is reinforced with aramid fibres, giving rise to ABS Kevlar, technically polyparaphenylene terephthalamide, a synthetic aramid fibre with thermal resistance. It is also a material with high tensile strength and impact resistance, and is, in fact, the material used in bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets or protective clothing.

The aramid fibres in ABS Kevlar ensure dimensional stability, prevent the printed object from warping and even make the object lighter than normal ABS. It is also an abrasive material so it is recommended to always use it with a hardened steel nozzle.

This filament, from the Dutch manufacturer 3D4Makers, is suitable for industrial or professional use as well as for home use, but it is recommended to print it in a ventilated room, away from sources of ignition and to keep it free of humidity.

3D printing with ABS filament is a little more complex than with PLA filament. In the case of ABS Kevlar filament, it is necessary that the printing base is hot, between 90 and 110ºC. To ensure the dimensional stability of the parts, it is advisable to use a closed 3D printer.
