One of the standout features of the EinScan Pro HD is its ability to handle challenging surfaces, such as dark or black objects and casting metal surfaces, with greater ease than traditional scanners (for transparent or highly reflective objects it is recommended to use scanning sprays). This enhanced capability is made possible by the innovative stripe pattern scanning technology, which has been adapted from Fixed Scan Mode to the Handheld HD Scan Mode. By combining advanced lighting projection hardware with an optimized software algorithm, this scanner is capable of capturing a broader range of materials, expanding its potential applications across industries like manufacturing and reverse engineering.

The EinScan Pro HD offers exceptional resolution and accuracy for handheld scanning, making it comparable to fixed scanning systems. With a minimum point distance setting of 0.2 mm and an optimized algorithm, the scanner delivers fine details and precision without sacrificing speed. In Fixed Scan Mode, the accuracy reaches up to 0.04 mm, while in Handheld Scan Mode with marker alignment, the volumetric accuracy is up to 0.045 mm + 0.3 mm/m. The scanner also boasts impressive processing power, capturing up to 3,000,000 points per second during handheld scanning, and processing each frame in less than 0.5 seconds when used with the Fixed Scan Mode.

Accessories and software

This scanner comes with a range of accessories to enhance its functionality, including the Color Pack and Industrial Pack. The Color Pack adds a texture camera, enabling the scanner to capture full-color textures in addition to geometry, while improving scanning efficiency through texture alignment. The Industrial Pack, which includes a turntable and tripod, allows for automated scanning on a turntable, ensuring greater accuracy for static objects. These accessories open up new possibilities for applications in reverse engineering, 3D modeling, and design, by offering multiple positioning methods such as feature alignment, marker alignment, and texture alignment with the Color Pack.

This professional-grade software offers a suite of tools for 3D scanning and mesh editing, making it easy to generate high-quality 3D models. Whether for basic scanning tasks or advanced data processing, ExScan Pro provides a user-friendly interface to streamline workflows. Additionally, the scanner is compatible with Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition, a powerful CAD tool that helps users bring their creative ideas to life. The software supports a range of file formats, including OBJ, STL, ASC, PLY, P3, and 3MF, ensuring compatibility with most 3D design platforms. Furthermore, the USB 3.0 connectivity enables ultrafast data transmission for further tasks such as 3D printing.

Applications

The versatility of the EinScan Pro HD makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, including manufacturing, reverse engineering, and 3D modeling for customized products and services, such as 3D printing. Its ability to capture detailed data for creating highly accurate models is crucial for industries where precision is paramount. Beyond the industrial sphere, the scanner also plays an important role in creative fields like art, heritage preservation, and design, providing users with the tools to digitize sculptures, artifacts, and other cultural objects for virtual display or further manipulation.

As structured light scanners, the quality of the scan can be affected by the lighting conditions of the environment. It is recommended to avoid direct or intense light sources that may cause reflections or glare on the piece. The ideal is to use continuous, diffuse light sources or place diffusers on the lamps in the room where the scanning will take place. When performing outdoor scans, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight hitting the model being scanned, either by scanning at certain times or by using sunshields to protect the model.

Certain surfaces, especially high-gloss, chrome, transparent, or some black surfaces, may be problematic when scanning. In these cases, it is recommended to treat the piece with a scanning spray.

In the Attachments section, users can find the scanner manual as well as a quick start guide in PDF format. On the Shining 3D support page, users can find numerous resources about the EinScan series scanners.
