Fiberlogy is a renowned manufacturer of 3D printing filaments. Thanks to its modern production line and the know-how of its technical team, Fiberlogy offers filaments of exceptional quality.
Among the most commonly used filaments today are PLA and ABS. ABS is a plastic made of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. It is called an engineering plastic because it is a material with higher mechanical and thermal properties than conventional plastics, which also means that it is more difficult to print.
ABS has the following properties due to its composition:
Acrylonitrile provides toughness, high temperature resistance, chemical resistance and stiffness.
ABS Plus is a versatile material with special properties such as higher strength and lower processing shrinkage than standard ABS, making it ideal for mechanical and technical processing. In addition, 3D printing with ABS Plus is faster than with other standard ABS.
Possible applications for ABS PLUS are prototypes, electronic components or decorative objects, but mainly applications of this material find their place in industry, in products that require higher durability.
The main properties of ABS Plus are its hardness and resistance to both impact and high temperatures. However, one of its most outstanding features is the possibility of being printed on open equipment, something that is quite difficult if standard ABS is used due to temperature changes or air currents, which negatively affect the printing process.
All in all, ABS Plus is a material that is easier to print than standard ABS and offers excellent mechanical properties, making it a suitable material for applications in a variety of sectors.

3D printing with ABS Plus filament is a little more complex than with PLA filament. In the case of ABS Plus filament, it is necessary for the printing base to be hot, between 90 ºC and 110 ºC. In addition, the extruder temperature must be between 250 ºC and 270 ºC depending on the colour used.
It should be noted that ABS Plus is a hygroscopic material, which means that it absorbs moisture from the air. This can cause a decrease in print quality. To keep the filament free of moisture, it is recommended to store the spools in vacuum packaging such as PrintDry or use a PrintDry Pro filament dryer.
