Snapmaker 2.0 - 3 in 1 and Snapmaker Artisan are multifunctional modular devices that include three modules that make it:

  • An FDM 3D printer.
  • A CNC machine.
  • A laser engraving and cutting machine.

The 10 W High Power laser module serves to replace the laser cutting and engraving module included with Snapmaker 2.0 - 3 in 1 and Snapmaker Artisan, providing great improvements in terms of power, laser focus and working speed.

The 10 W High Power laser module enables laser engraving and cutting of a wide range of materials. In addition, it is equipped with state-of-the-art laser beam splitters, resulting in a power jump from 5W to 10W. This means you can now operate with a wider variety of materials (more than 20 types of materials for engraving and more than 10 for cutting) and handle more projects.

On the other hand, the working speed of the 10 W High Power laser module can reach up to 6000 mm/min, while cutting linden up to 8 mm thick. That is, the cutting speed is up to 8 times that of the 1.6 W laser module.

With fast-axis collimating (FAC) lenses embedded in the two laser diodes, the module first compresses the laser spot of each laser diode and then combines the laser beams of the two laser diodes using beam combining technology, resulting in higher output power and an ultra-fine laser focus (0.05 mm × 0.2 mm), which enables higher energy density to be generated. Lower laser focus and higher power generate high quality laser work with impeccable detail.

The unique wind channel inside the 10 W High Power laser module provides excellent wind pressure, dissipating fumes as the laser beam cuts into the material, sending the fumes directly to the grids of the laser engraving and cutting platform, which are then channelled to the outside, reducing their interference in laser material processing.

Thanks to the triangulation technique, the module can measure the thickness of the material using the data obtained from the camera and the light emitter. It will then adjust its Z-orientation so that the focus point is positioned right on the surface of the material. With the updated camera capture process, the wide-angle HD camera captures the material in one shot and allows for an instant preview in the Luban software of the result of the laser work on the material. Thanks to Luban, the user can perform everything from simple image transformation to setting the correct parameters for various materials and cutting 3D models into vectors for laser cutting.

To protect the user and any bystanders, a gyroscope sensor is included in the module, which ensures that no laser beam comes out if the module is not correctly installed or if it deviates from the designated position.

Prolonged exposure to high temperatures will reduce the lifetime of the laser diode. The 10 W High Power laser module has two independent ventilation systems for your PCBA and laser diode to ensure that the diode is adequately cooled whenever it is in operation. With proper use, the lifetime can be extended to 8000 - 10000 hours. The module stops working automatically whenever the temperature sensor detects a higher than normal working temperature (exceeding 55°C). Once the temperature returns to the normal range, work can be restarted on the touch screen.

The 10 W High Power laser module is compatible with all models of the Snapmaker 2.0 series, A250/350 (except model A150), and with Snapmaker Artisan, and will be compatible with future equipment. It can also be used with add-ons including the rotary module, emergency button, air purifier, and CAN hub.

Due to the safety requirements of the class 4 high-power laser module, it is necessary that all users wear protective goggles when working with this device and that the Snapmaker 2.0 housing is always on. In addition to this, the use of protective covers will be necessary in the educational setting.
